You Shut Your Mouth, That Was Fucking Embarassing

By: roberto | December 7th, 2008

Never have I in my life seen such horrible defending. What league is this? What team are we? Grygera, Legrottaglie, Chiellini, and Molinaro shouldn’t ride on the team bus tonight back to Vinovo. They should take a farming pickup truck riddled with pigeon shit. It was unreal to see the amount of errant, misguided, and unintelligent passes that they (and our whole fucking team) made time and time again. Hang your heads in shame you fucking shitheads. Our defence is horrible and our management should suffocate and die. I’m counting this game as a tie 0-0.

Unreal, just fucking unreal. I got up early for this crap?

Diego isn't really a regista or a center-mid, he's an attacking mid for all intents and purposes.

If we're talking the former, it's signing Xabi Alonso, not Diego. Diego is not a defensive player.
  • formation-wise daniel, what would be our most logical scenario with Diego as a bianconero?
  • daniel
Roberto, I think that a great attacking winger like Schweinsteiger will come in handy but the he (Schweinsteiger) would then become Pavel's successor without a doubt. But i im really hioping we go after is that i think juve has been missing since, my I dare to say Zizou. what we need a real reggista of a center midfield my choice Diego. Somebody who could complement a the defensive aggressiveness of player like momo or poulsen who by the way was a beast in sevilla. Thiago when he arrived last year was the player that i thought he could take that job. So my vote is on Diego.
  • no transfer fee? hmmmm no wonder our management's interested lol.
  • agiamba
I don't think so, Roberto. A talented young left-winger for free? Who else?

I'm dubious of any Portuguese or Spanish winger, given past results.
  • agiamba
I've heard he is at Bayern, I can't comment on that because I haven't watched very much German soccer, but for the National team he's quite good.

I expect him to struggle when/if he arrives initially, not Tiago style but he's not going to be amazing, I get the feeling switching from the Bundesliga to Serie A. But given 4-5 months, he can put on that German magic.
  • I think we can do better than Schweinsteiger. Can't we?
  • adam
Schweinsteiger is a very inconsistent player btw.
  • agiamba
Johonna.....still feeling silly about that post? :)

Marco, I agree 100%. Schweinsteiger would be reinforcing a position we need.
  • Frankly, I'd prefer having Schweinsteiger over Diego any day of the week. Ranieri probably as well.
  • agiamba
Diego is totally the wrong player. First of all, it's all paper talk. Second, he doesn't fit into our system. Third, why the fuck would you want Diego? We already have a trequartista who isn't playing as one, Giovinco. What has Ranieri done that would give you any idea he would play Diego at attacking-mid but not Giovinco? It's not a question of personnel, he doesn't like the formation.
  • alessandro d'agostino
ranieri requested sissoko and look how bad he can be at times. all juve need is someone to replace pavel like juan mata, and a regista like alonso or even cigarini it suprises me to this day why you never signed him hes quality. diego plays the same position as giovinco and i know whos going to be better
  • adam
Appearantly Ranieri doesn't want Diego on the team. He thinks that he will have to change the formation if we get him.

The problem with our formation now is we cant seem to get more than 3 cosecutive passes. I think that the formation needs to be changed and Diego could be the answer.

If these stories are true than maybe Secco and the others arent the only ones to blame for our horrible transfer campaigns. Ranieri might not be the puppet I thought he was but instead requesting these shitty transfrers. If Diego means Ranieri is gone then the sooner he comes the better.

juve will win that match milan havent been impressive at all this season

    3 thoughts- andiamo a vincere!!

no, it'll be very interesting. it'll be interesting, that's for sure. given that we're at home, i say we have a slight advantage.
  • Too true about blogging-while-angry thing, Marco. That is how I ended up with this:

    a month or so ago.

    Now I just feel silly.

    So, Milan Juve... Any thoughts?

First bench game for little Barça-product Yago. :) Any word on how he's been doing in the Primavera?
  • LOL roberto. All joking aside, it's a good blogging rule "not to blog while your head is still fuming". :D

On the other hand, I'm glad my alarm clock didn't work and that I slept right through the game. Happy about Super-Seba's FK though. :) :)
  • Nicoli
hey alessio...ive been tryin to comment (as ive been doin for the last few months) on the roma offside page and only gettin flagged for spam saying the admin has to clear it...then it says no second chance or sum crap ..any idea what im doin wrong?
  • agiamba
I still don't want him to get called up, but given the Azzurri striking situation, I wouldn't be too angry if he was...

Miccoli+Amauri leading the Azzurri line, how funny would that be? That's the way it probably should be right now.
  • Giro
I know he stole the fans that wasnt hard but the celebration is hilarious. I think he should be called up before the world cup or we will have no shot.
  • agiamba
Not the first thing he's stolen from Luca Toni.
    http://palermo.theoffside.com/...
  • calisi
    That's what I noticed Giro
  • Giro
Did Amauri steal Luca Toni's celebration?
  • Look, I do give it up to Giovinco and Amauri. The little one was given a huge opportunity to impress and he really stepped up. That'll no doubt ease Ranieri's conscience the next time he ponders his role in other situations. Also, the big guy once again played to the last minute and was rewarded with the winning goal. However, as stats won't show, this game highlighted much more of our weaknesses than strengths.
  • Vinny
A bit of a knee jerk reaction response i would say. You have to take into account that we were away from home and still have one of the better goals against tallies in the top flight. I think the backline is running on fumes at the moment with the congestion of fixtures that they have had recently and might be slightly overlooking Lecce with Milan looming...

I think the real focus should be on a great individual effort by Giovinco... What touch, vision and pace. Real statement match for him. And also look at Amauri. He contributed little to nothing but kept his composure enough to put away the winner... That is class. And some say we payed to much for this man? I am about a step away from ordering my Juve kit with Amauri emblazoned across the back...

As for the, I will call it 'fragile' language, of this post. I don't mind the expletives much. Passion can blind even the most eloquent(not to say the writing here or elsewhere on this site would rival Joyce, Virgil, and the likes... although it is a whole lot more entertaining!) and its the passion for this team on this blog that keeps me coming back...
  • "maybe you don't watch soccer", and my favorite "we have the best defense in Europe by statistics"

I know what I wrote Juve, thanks.
  • del-mansour
roberto man I think you are too harsh on our defenders.our whole team was like crap today but you are only picking on our defenders lol

Sissoko wasted too many passes but that is because Ranieri doesn't teach him how to pass

As for Giovinco thank God DP and Iaquinta were out,Ranieri would never have played Seba had our other strikers been healthy
  • Nnahoj
Alessio, the thing with Lecce is that they are not talented - at all! This current team is nothing like the team under Delio Rossi and Zdenek Zeman in the early and mid 2000s, with players like Chevanton, Bojinov and Vucinic. Daniele Cacia is okay, but by and large this Lecce team is a Serie B team. Mario Beretta, who I rate as a promising coach, doesn't have a lot to work with and hence the reason why he has to adopt this approach.
  • agiamba
Well, juve, if you watched, Roberto has plenty of reasons to complain. I don't think it was epically bad like Roberto said, but it was pretty shitty. Until Giovinco's goal Lecce had no chances, then our concentration just went flying out the window. If Lecce's strikers weren't shit, coulda been a different result.
  • juve
roberto maybe you don't watch soccer but lecce tied milan and lost to inter just 1-0 you insult our defence and maybe you don't know this but we have the best defence in Europe by statistics ( 3 goals in 8 games) After everything our defence has done for Juve you call them embarrasing? EMBARASSING is what you wrote.
  • alessandro d'agostino
on a positive note giovinco is quality and if he is played consistently probably next season he can be what messi is to barcacelona just needs to work on his strength. juan mata to replace pavel as well
  • agiamba
Nnahoj, right on. I hate Lecce, they are city/team rivals of Bari, so I caught a good amount of their games last year in promotion. This season they have just set the team bus in front of goal and only attacked on counters, disgusting. There should be a way to fine the bastards.

Considering Udinese and Milan were held here, I'll take the 3 points for now.
  • agiamba
Yeah......if you don't like the writing, why read it? Jesus.

I didn't think the defending was that awful, certainly not one of their finer days, and the Lecce goal was just poor defending.

I'll agree with Alessandro, Sissoko was rubbish today. Other DMs know how to at least get their ball to a player on their team, that's all we're asking for. That and to stay on your feet more often...
  • Nnahoj
Someone who won't visit this site again, thanks.
  • Nnahoj
Even though I only saw the second half, I agree that the game was quite poor. The only explanation I can come up with for goal.com giving Sissoko a 7 is that the dude doing the ratings is the infamous Italian football gigolo and Sissoko is one of his best clients. Sissoko was possibly the worst player on the pitch.

Roberto, you have to realize though, that the main reason for our poor performance was due to Lecce's game. They had almost no intent on actually attacking. They were just trying to catch us on the counter-attack. Therefore, they packed the midfield which gave us little space to pass around the ball, making our passing ability in midfield look even worse. Like I was asking someone who was defending Sissoko by saying that he is a ball-winner, if that is the case then why does he insist on making these runs up the field with the ball only to either give it to the opposition with one of his specialty errant passes or just dive and try to win a foul? If he is just a ball-winner then let him keep his ass in front of the defence and do just that - WIN BALLS!

All things considered though, you have to admit in your heart of hearts that this was a good 3 points and that you are pleased with the fact that Giovinco played well, got a goal and that De Ceglie came on and put in a great cross for Amauri's goal.
  • 'Someone who won't visit this site again' or even better 'Someone who has never played the game before'... feel free to never come back.
  • alessandro d'agostino
Someone who wont visit this site again??? that was mild i thought
  • daniel
la mama di un lecce e una putana
  • daniel
my friends i completely agree with roberto...the game in lecce today was a total disgrace.
since the beginning of the game ball on offensive plays were distributed from the defense trying to hit either amauri or giovinco, no connection with a disappointing marchisio, sissoko and by far the worst marchionni

i agree that the worst part of this was the fact of getting up early in boston to see this piece of shit of a game today. fortunatly they pulled the win out... i guess i can only take out that i get to see the bayern hoffenheim game.
