Yes, Tiago locked Cobolli in the bathroom
By: alessio | September 2nd, 2008As we’ve all been discussing, Cobolli confirmed in an interview to Sky Sports that Tiago locked him in the bathroom. As I said in the last post, imagine a video of this, it would be my new favorite Calcio video.
[from Channel4...] The story had emerged over the last couple of days, but the report only stated that Del Piero had rescued Cobolli Gigli when he was accidentally locked in the bathroom at the club’s training ground. Rumours later suggested the ‘accident’ was in fact a spiteful gesture from Tiago, who was furious at Juventus pushing him to sign for Everton or Monaco. It is reported Cobolli Gigli was locked in for an hour before Del Piero happened to walk past and heard the pleas for help.
“The story of me being locked in the toilet by Tiago is true,” confessed Cobolli Gigli live on Sky Italia television. “It’s a shame it got out, as this was something I told a friend in confidence. In any case, Alessandro Del Piero responded to the noise of me punching the door and offered to break it down. “I told him it was better if someone else did it, as he needed to keep his shoulders in good shape for the Fiorentina game.”
- If Tiago showed this kind of determination and ballsiness on the pitch, this wouldn’t be happening
- “He needed to keep his shoulders in good shape,” that phrase just made me laugh.
- Most news sources think he wants to play in the Champion’s League. We set him up with Atletico+Benfica, I don’t buy it. He’s either holding out for an elite club (doubt it’ll happen) or maybe he really wants to win a spot at Juve.
- Cobolli was a boxer in his day. It seems he’s already forgiven Tiago for the incident, and good thing because I have no doubt who would win in that fight.
- This happens at another club and it’d throw them into crisis. Somehow this happened and no one, the management, the players, or the people directly involved seem bothered at all by it. Maybe it wasn’t as malicious as we’re imagining, more a prank born from frustration.
- Tiago’s clearly been forgiven, because he’s on the Champion’s League list instead of Ekdal.
Oh, and this:

What is everyone else’s read on this bizarre situation?

How do you lock someone in a toilet?
You also have to smile at the fact that he thought of ADP’s state before his thought of his own. “I might suffocate it in here – but it’ll be worth it if Alex is fit”.
Mind you it’d have made the story even odder if Alex had done his shoulder knocking the door down

I don’t know what the fuck Tiago is doing. He’s just one stupid kid. It’s a shame we’re stuck with him (again).

gigli also stated in the interview he hoped tiago would belong to another club by midnight so i think they are bothered by it but they are just keeping it hushed.
i think tiago is a complete idiot and should seriously see a counselor

I know what happened in there: Ranieri couldn’t decide who will hold the last place in our Champions League list of players, so Tiago, Ekdal and Rossi (who had a great pre-season and earned the right) made a bet with our beloved coach. Whoever locks the highest ranked Juventus figure in the weirdest place they can imagine will win the greatly desired position (place and person locked could give you extra points for originality).
Ekdal locked Secco in his own car using the child’s safety lock of the vehicle, Rossi locked Ranieri in a sauna (but the boss was so pissed off he wouldn’t recognize him as the winner), and Tiago locked Cobolli in the bathroom.
According to my source, Ekdal’s prank was about to be selected as the winner, but since Secco isn’t that important after all (his only job is to ruin our transfer campaigns), Cobolli gave Tiago the extra points he needed to win the contest. And that’s why he was selected for the Champions League instead of being sold to The Good Friends F.S. (football show) in Peru.

i think what tiago did is really funny.everyone at juventus wants him out, while he declines all the offers and locks gigli in the bathroom.if i would be in tiago’s shoes i would have done the same.after all, they did everything they could to get rid of him.i cant wait to see how things will turn for him from now on.

I find it touching to see that a relatively new arrival like Tiago feels compelled to follow a Moggi tradition . . .

Maybe he does have the bianconero spirit, ursus.

What he did was stupid and I hate the fact that Gigli admitted it – though the story was leaked, he didnt exactly tell it to the press
but on the other hand, the management cant run juve for nuts, so im pretty satisfied.

despite his bad year i still believe he can be of good use.
sometimes I saw give him passes like only the greatest can. with lyon he was outstanding. people just do’nt loose a talent over night . its all in the head.
remeber zidane first months with juve were as well not exactly the greatest of his career

True Bekhele, I remeber the start of last season when he only came on as a sub. Every single game he came on he had an assist, the last one was Iaquinta’s dissallowed header against Parma that would of won us the game.

He did show some great passing and vision but the problem is he just didn’t shore up our midfield or get into good spaces much at all. Whenever he was playing it felt like we had a 3-man midfield. Maybe in a 4-3-3 on the left-side (like at Lyon) he could succeed.

i think that he just isn’t right for the italian game. he is probably more suited for a team like Lyon

Good news- The Bianconeri who are currently injured trained this afternoon: Chiellini, Marchionni, Trezeguet, Zanetti and Zebina underwent physiotherapy and then worked on the pitch. Everyone’s conditions are definitely improving and there’s a fair chance they’ll all be available after the break for the international games. Even Giorgio Chiellini, who at first was supposed to recover in 45 to 60 days, is improving with each passing day, and the doctors aren’t ruling out a possible comeback in mid-September already.
We might have a full healthy squad soon.

It is really a shame. If he could be the player he is supposed to be that will fix lots of our problems. One thing is playing against “stronger” teams than us; against them you can balance defese and attack, and if you score a goal or two and defend fairly good, you can win the match. Too bad for us, playing against “weaker” teams is a completely different thing; against them you have to attack and try to score while the other team have 9 players behind the line of the ball. The latter is much harder if you don’t have enought creativity to find the spaces you need, or to create them inreally tight matches.

Udinese are at pretty much full strength. Only two question marks in defense at this point, but things went OK without them this past weekend. Your boy Legro. and his crew will have their work cut out.

We’ll be ready, Vin. This weekend we’ll have everyone but Andrade back (according to Juventus.com) and while I don’t expect Ranieri to risk anyone…Trezegol will play. E quando gioca Trezeguet, sempre segna.
