VotD: Paolucci Isn’t Too Happy with his Loan Recall…

By: agiamba | February 10th, 2010

And neither am I. We recalled this kid for one game. Even when Amauri is doing his best Juan Esnaider impression, we give him 5 minutes at the end? I’d be furious.

The whole video is funny with the subtitles, but the part I’m referring to starts at 2:52.

Other news, our Primavera boys did well against a plucky Sassuolo side, defeating them 1-0 in the quarterfinals. It's us v. Atalanta in the semifinals, and the other side is Empoli v. Serie D Primavera players. Who knew Serie D had that kind of talent?
  • Roberto
Being our top scorer this season doesn't account for much, Gaetano. I think the problem with Trez is that it has been so long since we have had a top-class straight striker, Trez seems like much more than he actually is. I think he would be a solid 3rd/4th option, but nothing more at this point, and his salary doesn't reflect that.

Also, I'd say the tipping point of the season was his MISS in the bayern game, not his goal. 5 years ago he puts that cross in (I believe a great run by PDC?) every time, we re-gain the momentum, and go through to the round of 16. Alas, he missed, and everything really fell apart from that moment.

Bottom line is he has become stale. With the current players we have, our striker needs to be fast, creative, and able to play quick touches with Diego/Giovinco. Trez has lost all of those skills in his old age. Let us remember him for what he was, not what he is now.
  • Jorid
I heart Trezeguet. If he stays healthy he can bang them in like no other on our team. With that said, I know my idea is pure speculation and it would probably never happen and I know Melo will probably stay after this season(would love for him+Tiago+Poulsen to all GTFO), but I would love to see Jeremy Toulalan or Moussa Sissoko with a Juve jersey on.
-Toulalan is 26, the best DM in France, regular for France's NT, good physically, has good vision and great tackling. He's what Tiago was supposed to be for us, with the only difference that he's a quality player and not a waste of money. Him, Momo and Marchisio together would easily form THE STRONGEST midfield in Serie A and one of the best in the world. Another quality of his, is that he's a DM who has good technique, but knows when to keep it simple and effective with his passing.(Unlike Melo or Momo). He would cost us quite a bit, but if we could get him, it would be a great permanent investment.
-My other "dream" player is Moussa Sissoko. We've been linked with him before(so has Arse-anal, Manure and Liverpool). He's young, physically similar to Momo, has x2 the technique of Momo and can play box to box. He's the real heir to Patrick Vieira on the French National Team. For a good 10-12 million we can definitely get him. He's his team's best scorer this season in Ligue1, with 7 goals and 2 assists in 23 games. Also, what's better than having 1 Sissoko? Having 2 Sissokos!
Here's Moussa doing his best impression of Zizou:

By the way, Ciro Ferrara's birthday is today, he's 43. Very happy to see there's a post about it on Juventus.com.

Mass, I couldn't agree with you more on Ribery. I don't really like him that much, as a France fan once posted on the Offside, he has real attitude problems. Marseille, Galatsaray (sp) and Bayern, he's caused issues there about wanting to leave. Add the fact that he's very injury prone and rarely manages 20+ starts a season, and, well, he'd be a massive waste of money. Even if he hasn't injury prone or bitchy, I still agree with you. We need to rebuild our team, and it starts with the back. The last 3 years we've made no real signings in defense, just patching it up with Bosmans and cheap deals.

However, I couldn't disagree with you more on Trezeguet. Here's a post from a few months ago when he beat out Sivori as the all-time foreign scorer, and here's an excerpt.

Personally, I have always been a huge fan of Trezegol. He’s underappreciated by Juve fans and by the media in general, his scoring rate for France and Juventus is stunning, and he has many qualities people ignore, chiefly, his consistency. He does not bang in 5 goals a game and go 2 months without scoring. For a player with as many goals as he does, he does not have that many hat-tricks, a testament to his league consistency. Second, there is the consistency in his years. A lot of players take a while to get their career started, and some wane earlier than others. Last season is the only one in his entire Juve career where he failed to score 10+ goals, an amazing statistic when you think about it. And lastly, his consistency applies to all clubs- he’s scored plenty against Inter, Milan, Real Madrid, etc, but also against Empoli, Vicenza, and relegation-battling teams. Don’t let his penalty miss in 2006 fool you, he is not a choker by any means.

He scores, a lot. He scores in big games, and in small. And he's scored consistently for 10 years running. If we had another great striker in the team, I'd consider letting him go, but as far as I am concerned, he's our best striker available. As for injuries, he had the double knee surgery, but since then, he has only been injured with this 5-6 week ankle injury. The rest of the time, he's been ignored by our coaches so you might have thought he was injured.
  • Gaetano
Mass i disagree. Trezeguet is our top scorer this season. He has been out for half the season. He scored against bayern. He is a juventus legend and should retire with us. He should not start every game but should rotate. Amauri needs to be sold instead.

    Here is my list

    stay
    buffon,manniger, chiellini,legro,caceres
    sissoko,candreva,camo,marchisio diego,giovinco,trezeguet,iaquinta

    Go
    grosso,grygera,zebina,brazzo,melo,amauri,tiago,molinaro

    retire
    cannavaro,del piero

cammo and trez both have another year in them at least where they can be great rotating
    players.

We should concentrate on building our defense first.

With our sale $ we can go for young defenders and an amazing striker.
Pazzini impressses me a lot. guisepe Rossi did at first but has been going through a rough patch. I would chose pazzini over him.

Realistically, if we can get 3 i would pick kjaer to partner with chiellini, bonucci or a fit ranoucchia, and pazzini.

I would promote immobile and keep paolocchi.

    Sorry for the random info.

I have to be honest I've never truly understood the fascination with Trezeguet. I've always thought he was vastly overrated and having Del Piero play along side him has made him look a lot better than he actually is. I know...I know he is Juve's all time top foreign goal scorer and some would say a club legend. But I don't think he has ever made that much of an impact in the Champions League really, maybe I'm wrong. But I truly believe that now is the time to sell him. Think about it logically for a minute, the guy is massively injury prone, in the last two years he has had numerous knee surgeries and lets not forget that at 32 he is coming towards the end of his career. Also the guy is bound to be on pretty big wages, he is clearly no longer the same player he was some years ago! Surely if we can find a club who are willing to buy and pay his wages then we should let him go!
  • Roberto
Youre right Pazzini probably would be a better fit as a lone striker...I do have a small obsession with the jersey boy though. We haven't had a striker with his combination of speed, long-range shot and finishing for ages.

Plus don't we already have enough guys with broken faces wearing the silly masks lol?
  • Robee
Rossi is not a typical striker to play lone up top... He's not a goal poacher like for instance Pazzini. And since the latter is better (imo) and cheaper... We should always prefer him over the Milanista you mentioned, Roberto...

Keep Trezeguet and Iaquinta, Sell Amauri and finance Pazzini's purchase with it. That's my advice.
  • Roberto
Oops forgot G. Rossi up top!

    Kjaer/Chiellini/Criscrito
    Camo/Melo/Sissoko/Marchisio
    Diego/Giovinco
    Rossi

Seven beasts in the back, with the three fastest players on the field attacking. Camo/Marchisio up and down the wings all day, both love to run!
  • Roberto
Mass, totally agree...I posted this two months ago, but give us Kjaer, G Rossi, and bring back Criscrito. All of this would be cheap, especially assuming we sell Tiago & Amauri.

    Kjaer/Chiellini/Criscrito

    Camo/Melo/Sissoko/Marchisio

    Diego/Giovinco

Big, strong, agressive midfield with three speesters up top. This would leave us a little small with the three forwards, but where does having a big, slow striker get us right now? That back line would be set in stone for the next 7 years, with Candreva slowly replacing Camo, and Paolucci/Immobile rotating with Rossi.
  • Mass
Hey guys, hope everyone is well. I've read today on a couple of websites rumours linking us to Ribery. Although he is a great player, I just think surely the money would be better spent on signing 3 or 4 youngsters to reinvigorate the squad. In all honesty I doubt we have much of a chance to sign Ribery with the likes of Real/Barca and Man U all chasing him, not to mention his price tag must be close to 40 or 50 million euros. What do you guys think? Surely we would be smarter signing the likes of Kjaer, Bonucci or Pazzini, rather than one albeit very good player.
  • Sofia
    Jose, Jorid,
I agree! I would pay someone to take him! And Amauri, maybe we can get like a 2-for-1 special or something...
  • HolyMann
Alastair, what about camoranesi? trezeguet? legro?
  • Alastair
So football-italia.net is reporting (via somewhere else presumably) that Bettega considers only 11 players to be safe in their roles next year.

    http://www.football-italia.net...

Who are your 11? I'd make sure to hang onto:

Buffon, Chiellini, Caceres, De Ceglie, Candreva, Sissoko, Marchisio, Giovinco, Diego, Del Piero, Iaquinta

But I'm sure our management has other big ideas! Like maybe going and inquiring about overpriced, injury-prone Ribery when we still only have half a defence...

    http://www.football-italia.net...
  • HolyMann
loved the video......and Jorid, its never boring reading such articles (thanks for the link)
  • Ahahah some of those subtitles were really funny. :D I loved "Zac ate the ball", "Amauri burns the grass", and "Grosso jumping a man for the first time in months".

    Good find alessio. :)
  • Jorid
Jose: LOL. I feel the exact same way. I'll gladly contribute a couple hundred dollars as long as I know FOR SURE that:
-Elkann will leave, Andrea Agnelli will step in.
-Secco will leave, Marino/Pietro Leonardi/Marrotta will step in his place.
-JCB will resign as prez and worry just about finances.
  • Jose
    Sofia

I think all club supporters will give money for other club to take Secco. I'll double my share if Inter would take him.
  • Nnahoj
    Jorid

About that list, as much as I agree with the writer on Conte (that he was a very underrated player) and though he's my second favourite player ever at Juve, I can't agree with him being higher ranked than Baggio. Baggio was the reason I started supporting Juve and, like even the writer said, Baggio transformed Juve into the behemoth they were in the 90s.

Everything else I'm kinda cool with.
  • DJP
Maybe a nickel or two for Secco. Not much more.
  • sofia
HAHA! Ti amo Paolucci!!! Grande! The management are idiots! They wouldn't know how to run a football club if there was a "Manage a Football Club for Dummies" book for them to read! Which, by the way, I'm sure exists. The summer can't come fast enough! We need a serious overhaul. Half of our team needs to be put up for sale as do our management...that would be interesting to be able to sell your office people...I wonder how much we could get for Secco? 1..2....3 dollars?
  • Jorid
I'm not exactly sure whether someone has posted this article before, but I just saw it right now and thought it was great. If it's old news, then I apologize.

Speaking of youth not getting the right treatment in Turin...

Here's an interesting interview with Criscito: A lot of us have speculated about where he sees his future, especially given his prior declarations, but he's very non-committal, which is an improvement on the past. He talks about his friendships on the Juve team, like PDC, Gio, Marchisio (I bet Gio will say DO NOT COME BACK) and that he managed to run into Iaquinta on Christmas vacation. He says he's open to whatever happens this summer, whether we sell him to Genoa or bring him back.

I'm sure it's not in context, Vince. I symphathize with him, but it makes Giovinco look like a saint for what he's put up with.

Daniel, I'll translate some of the subtitles of the video when I get back home later tonight.
  • Vince
Camo probably had a different color as he was to be always the extra attacker for whichever said had possession. So kind of like all-time offense.

As for Paolucci, was that all in context? or some clever work putting the clips together. I do sympathize with his situation although it's tough to see him doing that in the middle of training directed at Blanc and Co. Frustration is one thing, but not sure that is the professional way to go about things, also shows yet another look into the problems we have. Funny nonetheless.
  • Daniel
Didn't understood much, but the paolucci part was fun :D
Could you add a little grammar? Just so we, those who can't read much italian (aside from your Grammar Post) understand? Grazie

BTW, why was Camo wearing a different color?
