wow, iaq. the calabrian cannon

Sofia
strong first half, SHIT second half

Nnahoj
We had to work a little too hard for that win, but at least we got the season off on a good foot.

ned lowe
a work in progress…not grammy winning stuff, but it’ll do 2 be going home with at this stage…good showing from the midfield trio…i wonder who’ll be benched when camo, sissoko n melo r fully fit tho?

HolyMann
we seriously need to do something about those full backs, when Salihamidic was on, we were looking quite nice from his side, Grygera is Grygera, but what the hell happened to De Ceglie??
and Diego is amazing, but needs to improve, he’s hogging the ball quite alot which costs us to lose possession and yeah, sucks to say it, but the two who shall not be named had a sound game with some good moments

Pablo
De Ceglie suddenly forgot how to cross… maybe its Molinaro in disguise.

Marco
I will live with a 1-0 game. I am not content with it but granted it is the first game, new formation, new sort of swagger,i will live with a narrow victory. I question some of the substiutions, Marrone over Camo? with 15 good mins in a 1-0 game. I understand it is important to regelate the youngsters but this game was far from over. Trez should have also been shown some playing time. Overall not a bad. The middle with Diego will become explosive when the chemistry is there. At times the attack looked out of sync but as aformentioned that is due to the lack of chemistry. Tiago sprayed the ball around nicely – and specifically to the wings, Poulson started well… and became more clumsy towards the latter, but looked sharp. I hope we will be healthy for Roma, they looked crisp on attach and vunerable in the last fifth of the field. I hope we can exploit them down the middle. Forza Juve. Bravo!!!

Cannavaro
Nice tackle there. He’s having a stellar match thus far.

Sam Dj
diego is class

Jorid
Hahaha, no hard feelings at all man. You should have seen my look when I read the first sentence, I was like: “Uhmmm… uhhh well”. I just think he [Poulsen] did do a few decent things so far. You can definitely tell he’s still not playing at his fullest ability tho, he looks VERY nervous at times

get over it...HE'S BACK BABY!!!...sorry "real" tifosi....sucks for you...
  • That's the current speculation swirling, is that Schalke has accepted our bid. Wouldn't shock me, didn't they fine the hell out of him last summer for going to the Olympics? Talk about breaking team-player relations!

New post up about Rafinha, Grosso, and our fullbacks.
  • o_man
    looks like we got Rafinha

the real tifosi will never forget what cannamerda did

this debate will never end....can't we all just hope he plays well for the sake of the team and let it be...love him or hate him...whistle him...but i hope he plays well...for the betterment of the club...
  • I agree with your first paragraph Nnahoj, not the 2nd. Camo and Trez both said they wanted out but ultimately what matters is that they didn't. Cannavaro said he wanted to stay but left for a pretty cheap sum. Trez and Camo both were linked to moves away the summer of the return to Serie A, but both chose to stay with Juve. Frankly, they probably could have freed themselves from Juve had they chosen the Ibra route and threatened legal action.

i wanna call Bari the "new Siena"..

I didn't want Cannavaro back, not because I see him as a traitor (I don't by the way) but because he's old and slow now. He might still be able to read the game fairly well and put in the occasional top class performance, but over an entire season - and especially up against speedy and powerful attackers like Torres, Drogba etc - he will not look so impressive. And frankly, I don't see how any top club could look at Cannavaro's performances over the past 3 years for RM and consider him worthy of being their first choice center back.

I've always found it strange that fans hate Cannavaro, Zambrotta, and Ibra (who I agree should be hated without a doubt), but harbor no ill feelings toward Camoranesi and Trezeguet, both of whom wanted to leave as well but were literally forced to stay. It's a little petty if you ask me, but then again everyone is free to have their own opinions. Liking him or hating him does not make you any less of a fan. I mean, look at how many of us hate Molinaro...
  • Ivo
Meh, I am kind of torn on the subject. You guys make it sound (at least to me) that if we don't despise Canna we are not true Juve fans...I disagree. Yeah, he left, he shouldn't have if he was loyal, imo he should have taken a pay-cut so Juve can afford him if Sofia's theory is true. Still, he left for a good club, he has always been a true professional, and I do believe he has always respected Juve. I wouldn't say that for Zambrotta or Ibrahimovic. As for Legro, he played his heart out for Juve but Legro on a great day is still worse than Canna on a bad day. Just being plain objective here. Canna could have earned a 'legend' status like Buffon, Nedved, and Ale if he stayed but he thought of his career and his family, and he was perhaps selfish in that manner. I respect him still, to a point, and if Juve thought it okay for him to be back, and if he helps us win, I will not whistle him on the last day. I will probably have all my whistles going towards MOlinaro anyways.. :)
  • HolyMann
i dont understand why people want us to cut him some slack, yes he's a good player, yes, hime wanting to leave might be understandable since he was at the club for only 2 years.......but HELL NO, he does not deserve to return

"Some of us will never forget and will whistle him as he walks off the pitch for the last time this coming May."

couldnt have said it better my self
  • however, with the demotion to serie b juve lost most of its television rights, sponsorship, etc. and therefore could not afford to keep him.

I think that's an overrated theory. We got 7mil from his sale. Saved 4-5mil in salary. (Gigi,ADP,Nedved,Trez/Camo/etc were not playing pro-bono) I doubt 10-11mil would have sunk the club. We could have made that up by not paying over 15mil for Felipe Melo.

he also made it very clear over the years that he did love juve and wanted to come back.

Yeah only after De Laurentiis said "Hell no." Before that it was all about how he dreamed to wear the Napolitano shirt again.
  • Sofia
the story i heard is that cannavaro wanted to stay and he came out and said so. however, with the demotion to serie b juve lost most of its television rights, sponsorship, etc. and therefore could not afford to keep him. it was that simple. he was not the only one that left. i mean lets be fair its not like he went to inter or something. he went to a totally different league. he had said he wanted to stay and couldnt but he also made it very clear over the years that he did love juve and wanted to come back. and i think his performance proved that he plays his heart out for this club so i think that people really need to cut him some slack! its not like its the return of ibra :|
  • Anyways, this debate will probably never end. I'll try and get a new post up this afternoon.
  • A Ballon d or winner should not be playing in seria b

Cough cough Pavel Nedved...and Buffon should have won Fabio's ballon d'or anyways, and he was in Serie B.

(and didnt go to another seria a squad which would have been disrespect)

Couldn't have if he wanted to. He had already flopped at Inter who had 7 CBs anyways, Milan was frozen in the market due to Calciopoli, and Roma/Fiorentina/etc could never have afforded his fee or his wages.

He came back and the fans will accept him.

Some fans will. It amazes me that everyone is ok with what he did after only one good game. Some of us will never forget and will whistle him as he walks off the pitch for the last time this coming May.
  • Stasio
A Ballon d or winner should not be playing in seria b, he had the right to move (and didnt go to another seria a squad which would have been disrespect) get over it. He came back and the fans will accept him.
  • bianconeri
Talk around juve forums is that we have signed Grosso for around 2mil, very good signing imo.

Now we know for a fact that Molinaro will never start another game :)
  • Mike
Alessio, if you can, fill me in on what we can expect from Yago. Is he capable of contributing and making a difference?
  • bianconeri
I take back most of what I said about that piece of shit Cannamerda. For some reason I thought he wanted to stay but the management couldn't refuse the offer Real made, which would be somewhere around 25-30 mil. Instead it was 7 MILLION EUROS!!! It's pretty clear now that he forced the move. I hope after he retires the only job our management offers him is a janitorial role.
  • HolyMann
George....go tell that to the seniors in the squad, especially Nedved who was dying to lift the champions league
  • georg
I am a Juve fan but I stand by jovan.
I'm wondering how many people here if they were a professional footballplayer, dreaming of a great career, at the highest level. would stay at a club who's get relegated by a scandal.after joining that club just after 2 years, when you're on the very high peak of your career...
its easier for players to stay when ur longer part of the club and in the autumn of your career.
and don't forget, camoranesi, everybody loves him(4good reason) but he wanted to leave to, even desperatly, he stayed because he was forced to

and if canna performs a whole year like in the first game. i hope every sceptical will be able to find some forgivness in their heart. showing CLASS is in my opinion more fitted for a juve fan.something u can show in vicotry defeat and sure forgivness.strength consitency, hard work, humbleness ang great class hav been always juve's fundations
  • That is true Alex, but obviously Cannavaro accepted the move.

Jovan you're totally wrong about Legrottaglie. Strictly comparing the two, yeah, I would say Cannavaro is better. But it's not about that, it's than together with Chiellini the duo formed the best center-back partnership in Italy for the last two years. One of the reasons we leaked goals was when they didn't play together, ie- the entire last 2 months last season. The only games they played in that period were against Milan and the last game of the season, coincidentally when we conceded 1 goal and 0.
  • HolyMann
Alex, i dont know about that, never heard about such a story.

Al, everything will come within its time....you're not alone on being aggravated about not winning anything, but lets not go soo far in saying that we wouldnt have won against Chievo, cause now ur making it seem that without Cannavaro, Juve might as well give up
  • alex
from my recollection juve sold cannavaro a week after he said he wanted to stay.
  • al
HolyMann, i am glory hunter. especially having been starving for 3 years without title. even harder when we basically used to win.

if the title(s) will come with cannaxxxx (one could fill that xxxx with either bella or merda), then i can live with that.

had he not been there on sunday, we probably would havent won the game.

ps: canna agreed to get paycut.
  • HolyMann
i really dont see how people become assholes by not liking Cannavaro??
and Kaka is a different story, the club sold him, they needed the money, he still loves Milan and would have stayed (thats my opinion, no facts)
Cannavaro was free to leave, no one held him back, he left when the club needed him, and for him to want to come back.....thats unacceptable, even in an asshole's book, its unacceptable....
one last thing, Juve aren't a retirement club for him to play one season and retire in a Juve jersey, he doesnt deserve that, and if he gets a farewell thats half as good as Nedeved's.....ill be very very disappointed
  • Jovan
my post above was a response to KJ.

as for HolyMann's post - I'm a Milan fan and I wouldn't mind Kaka back 3 or 4 years from now if he's better than our other option at the same position at the time. so I'm looking at this from that perspective.

"its easy calling someone an asshole on the internet isnt it?"

easy or not, it's the truth regarding at least half of the people who are speaking out against cannavaro.
  • HolyMann
he had the right to move after he’d given some great years to Inter, just like Kaka to Milan or Cannavaro to Juve.

you're right about that.....but he has to right to come back!!!
  • HolyMann
I’m not even a Juve supporter, but I’m fed up with this bullshit.

simply....stop reading the Juve blogs, cause ur gonna be seeing alot of these comments through out this year....no matter how well he plays. i tell u this cause im one of those heart-bleeding Legro-loving assholes :)
  • Jovan
Right. He wanted to play for a team more adequate to his level, in a league that is at the moment better than Serie A. He has every right to. In fact, whatever reason he had - money, climate, better prostitutes - he had the right to move after he'd given some great years to Inter, just like Kaka to Milan or Cannavaro to Juve.
  • HolyMann
    Jovan

its easy calling someone an asshole on the internet isnt it?

first of all, since ur not a juve fan, by writing here, at least respect what others want to say and think...after all, this is the Juve page
second of all, since ur not a juve fan, i dont think u would know what it feels like having cannavaro back and as an effect seeing Legro on the bench. Granted, he may be better than the other two, but then again, i for one am not a glory hunter...i would choose to lose with pride and dignity then to win without them....then again, i doubt you would understand

O_man, i think thats a bit harsh isnt it?
  • KJ
Ibra isn't a traitor either, right Jovan?
  • Jovan
Canavaro is a class above both Chiellini and Legro. Also, Legro is an imbecile. This 'traitor' bullshit has to stop. Canavaro was nor stupid nor a traitor to leave a relegated side for Real Madrid. His only stupid move was returning to Juve to be greeted as a traitor by a bunch of heart-bleeding Legro-loving assholes.

I'm not even a Juve supporter, but I'm fed up with this bullshit.
  • o_man
cannamerda will always be a stupid traitor no matter what.i hope he breaks his legs or dies of a heart attack soon
  • DJP
The thing is this: Cannavaro-Chiellini is still very unproven while Chiellini-Legro we already know what we're going to get. I'm with Alessio that Legro will NEVER be as flashy as Cannavaro, but what do you know...Legro gets the job done.

When Legro and Chiellini they are one of, if not the best in Italy. The jury is still out on whether Cannavaro can mesh with Giorgio. One week doesn't change anything. For all we know, he might play like absolute garbage and the people praising him now will be first in line to behead him.
  • bianconeri
  • bianconeri
I would have a problem with Cannabella replacing Legro if he was worse or if they were atleast on the same level. But Canna brings much more to the team than Legro does.
  • HolyMann
"A good performance by a traitor is still a performance by a traitor."

thats probably the best sentence i've heard in a long time.
  • Mike
    2 arguments against Canna..

    1) Turning his back on the Old Lady in its time of crisis
    2) Supplanting a Barese for a starting spot in Central defense

LOL, one reason may be more important than the other, I will let the Juventini decide
