Sampdoria v. Juventus: ‘Hold Me’

By: roberto | March 20th, 2010

The wounds are definitely still fresh, and playing away at Sampdoria on Sunday isn’t going to help either. Antonio’s rumoured to be starting for the Blucerchiati side that has discovered quite a bit of self-confidence in their own abilities during Cassano’s extended absence, which should be a genuine concern for Zaccheroni and his men. However, perhaps the Zac’s biggest worry will be how his men react to this week’s latest embarrassing European elimination.

Speaking of European competitions we may or may not deserve, this match against Sampdoria will most definitely have Champions League consequences for both teams as a win for the Bianconeri will see them leapfrog Palermo by the smallest of margins into fourth, while Del Neri’s side will leapfrog Juventus and go level with the Rosaneri for the last CL spot at 47 points with 9 games remaining. We cannot let another opportunity go by to gain points on Palermo for the second straight week if we still want to talk about objectives this year. Big if I know…

Bianconeri call-ups:

3 Chiellini
4 Felipe Melo
5 Cannavaro
6 Grosso
7 Salihamidzic
8 Marchisio
9 Iaquinta
10 Del Piero
11 Amauri
12 Chimenti
13 Manninger
15 Zebina
16 Camoranesi
17 Trezeguet
18 Poulsen
20 Giovinco
21 Grygera
22 Sissoko
26 Candreva
28 Diego
33 Legrottaglie
39 Marrone
40 Immobile
41 Pinsoglio

God only knows who are starting eleven will be. Newbies are available but we have no clue as to their fitness levels. For Samp, Cacciatore, Castellazzi, and Pozzi won’t be available so Luigi Del Neri has called up two Primavera players Scepovic and Testardi as a result. The other call-ups include M. Cassano, Guardalben, Storari, Accardi, Gastaldello, Lucchini, Rossi, Zauri, Ziegler, Franceschini, Guberti, Mannini, Padalino, Palombo, Poli, Semioli, Tissone, A. Cassano, and Pazzini.

Keep an eye on the young Samp midfielder Andrea Poli. At just 20 years old the kid plays with an incredible desire to work extremely hard and has some serious technical potential as well. A more honest version of Marchisio maybe. He’s a great prospect and will be a fine catch for any team looking to pick up his services in the near future. Hopefully Juventus make a move to lock him up fast because now it’s all about the future. Prediction: 2-0 Sampdoria

Alessio, just wondering what did you mean by "honest version" in describing Andrea Poli?

"I don’t think any great players will move to Juve knowing that there will be no champions league next season."

Not necessarily. A few seasons ago, Bayern was able to sign some top players even though they were only playing in the UEFA Cup. If we can show that we will be competitive and will get back to the top soon, then we will be able to attract top players. I think the bigger problem is that management may not even know what top players look like.

So much for the renaissance, aye Alessio?

I feel the season is officially over. I don't think any great players will move to Juve knowing that there will be no champions league next season. We need a sporting director that will bring good players that are willing to work for this team the way Nedved and Davis used to play. From today, only Marchisio and Sissoko seemed to have that willingness. Secco needs to go and Blanc needs to be moved to a financial only role, he doesn't know anything but that.

Does anyone still think I am worth what you paid for me? Hell, even I dont think Im worth that much!

Worst record breaking (they haven’t beaten us since 95 and del nerri never beat us since forever)

We have contributed to many record this season. To Catania (that never beat us for like 100 years), to Fulham, and now to Sampdoria and Del Neri

alright another loss, typical, i don't know what to say, we weren't deserving of a win, but to lose yet again, what more can i say?

is it sampdoria coach's first win against us? how many records did we lost this season?

get ourselves mentally prepared for Europa League or no Europe next season.

have a nice day, everyone, may better days be ahead of us.

8 goals conceded in three matches! What a winner.
  • M
I'm done with Chimenti. He made a total hash of the Cassano goal. Manninger would've kept that out and who knows maybe Pinsoglio. Thank goodness there was no Melo to get himself sent off. The pitch was so slippery and surely Melo would've gotten red for some "mistimed challenges".
  • j
maybe he wasn't expecting it or it was a cassano genius
  • Alastair
My stream is breaking up constantly and we look in no danger of scoring or even fashioning real chances. I'm going to do something unprecedented and switch this off and get an early night's sleep.

Someone wake me up when the nightmare is over.

    Lol blanda.Hot!
  • Robee
Pinsoglio would've had it for sure...
  • Ivo
Truth is Chimenti had a solid game except for the goal. What bothers me is that his experience alone should have batted that ball away, yet he was made to look like a fool. Just what our season has been like. Fack
  • Blanda_Amania
and I'm a whole 5'1" with bad eyes, and jacked up knees.
  • Gaetano
    Vero ale!

    Madonna mia! Mannini !
  • Blanda_Amania
Gaetano, I would have batted that away.
  • Gaetano
My nonna would have batted that away!
  • agiamba
Siamo venuto fin qui per vedere giocare Chimenti!!!
  • dweb
not only do i hate that chimenti is playing (and sucking, might i add) but i hate that it was cassano that scored. now all we will hear this week is how he should play for la nazionale.
  • j
i was going to praise him as a good 3rd choice
  • agiamba
    Fucking Chimenti.
  • Blanda_Amania
    I agree, Alastair.
  • Gaetano
The faces cassano makes suggest a slight characteristic of one who is on cocaine.
  • Alastair
I'm just going to say it: Buffon would have stopped that shot.
  • Blanda_Amania
    Come on!!!!
  • Ivo
Thanks Chimenti, there goes all our hard work today. Wonderful
  • grandeMou
