Rumor of the Day: Tiago for Marco Motta
By: alessio | September 8th, 2009So I’ve decided from now on, whenever I see an absolute ludicrous rumor, I may post it.
So the rumor is in January, Juve will swap Motta for Tiago, because we didn’t find a right-back this summer. “Claudio Ranieri in fact seems to have requested the Capital clubs management to sign Tiago.”
There are so many things wrong with this rumor I don’t even know where to start. Here’s one- With Tiago and Marco Motta in Serie A, Thiago Motta needs to rename himself. Maybe Skipee McGee.

No way, Tiago is way better than motta. Maybe if we include some other players in the deal: something like motta+mexes+De Rossi+Totti for Tiago… that makes sense…
Not that we actually want totti, but we could sit him on the bench and make him serve drinks to the other players.

ROFL. No seriously tho, I honestly would not be very surprised. Ranieri was the one who made Juve pay a whooping 15million Euros just so he could have Tiago on his team. Ranieri has so far brought Tiago on 2 of his former teams. Hopefully it will be 3 in January. I would love to see a young promising Italian like Marco Motta(who can even play on both sides) start for Juve. Him on the right and Criscito on the left and our fullback situation is resolved for at least a few years. Secco needs to get rid of the dead wood that we have mentioned like 304803984308435850398402 times and buy Marco Motta, Simon Kjaer, Alberto Paloschi and then I would name my first born son after him. And I guess after you too Ale haha.

hey, good thing that ranieri now is coaching again. we may be able to sell all his favorite player like molinaro, tiago, grygera, and poulsen.

I don’t think Tiago was requested by Ranieri, at Chelsea he was signed by Mourinho not Claudio. Anyways, his signing was done just a week or two after Ranieri was unveiled. I think most of that summers transfers were planned without Ranieri’s input, probably when we were still in Serie B.
Anyways, I have no idea what prompted this as Ranieri and Tiago obviously did not get along, and Tiago does not fit in Ranieri’s beloved formation. It’s madness.
At this point, I’m pro-keeping Tiago. He’s starting to prove himself in the 3-man midfield (some of us saw that coming a ways away…duh, that’s where he excelled at Lyon and he was practically crying out for Ranieri to field a 4-3-3) and our midfield would be too thin if we let him go.

No matter how much Tiago is improving i would still take a great, young future italian hot prospect in Marco Motta he is a right back and something we lack. If only this was true

Kinda like what ADP is doing now huh?

unless we’re getting another midfielder to replace Tiago, i dont think its smart to lose a midfielder for a RB when we already have 2/3

“Kinda like what ADP is doing now huh?”
Its called depth…And with Totti’s outrageous salary, to say Roma’s depth is thin is an understatement

Classic Romanista.
ADP is not only depth, but he’s been injured the last two weeks. And his salary is lower than Totti’s, much lower. Enjoy that debt burden for the next 4-5 years.

Btw, at the moment it is Juventus 2:0 Bulgaria. When Marchisio pops one in after half time it will be total Juve domination on the World stage

Lol Ivo, exactly. It’s funny because right before the game everybody on Calciomercato.com and other sites was complaining about Lippi’s call-up of Grosso and justifying it as he only called him up because Grosso joined Juve. If only Iaquinta could finish sitters, he would easily bag 20+ goals a season with the service that he has both on the NT and at Juve. He could have had at least a double today.

Yeah because Grosso wouldn’t have been called up if he went to Milan or something too..

Good point Jorid. Iaquinta is a classic finisher, while we are seeing Amauri trying to create something for himself too as of late. If only he would score. But with Grosso in the back and our whole midfield being good passers, we need Iaquinta to be lethal with his finishing and the season will be a breeze. As for Lippi, he has always had a warm heart for Juve and vice versa. But he is a smart man to call up Grosso, wherever he may be playing

Buffon made a very good save.

“Cannavaro’s form this season so far has been 2006-like. Read the game superbly, and executed some superb tackles and interceptions.”
i know its a goal.com rating but i really do hope cannavaro picks it out this year hes a legend in my book!
might even get a cannavaro shirt from this website its a lot cheaper than a lot of the others…

That is cheap, Alex! Maybe I’ll grab one too, it would make me feel less guilty about burning it.
Someone on the Italy WCB yesterday actually questioned Buffon. Tifosi are so fickle.

Yeah, at least we still have Totti on the pitch for another 5 years. Enjoy your last 2 years with Del Piero…on the bench of course, what a role for some captain.

Anyone who questions Buffon should go and find the closest cliff and jump off it… If you’re questioning buffon based on last season then have in mind that he came back from injury in january to find the defence in shambles, he could only do so much to help the team…but not when u get a 90th minute chievo header from point blank! i think towards the end of the season he lost a bit of motivation which caused his form to go down a bit. But based on this season we are now reminded how god was unfair to all other humans when he created Buffon

Forza Juveps. Del Piero wont stay on the bench for long. Im sure you heard of something called rotation. Good thing our captain will be playing the last two years in the grandest stages of the champions league. And by the looks of it Totti’s last 2 years will be struggling with Roma battling relegation

Juventus is bigger than Del Piero kurdt…if his role is now as a rotation/sub, that’s fine. You can continue fucking Roma for the next few years by relying on Totti. When he’s 37 and clearly too old to be important, will you still proudly be fielding him or is he going to be sitting on the bench draining Roma’s payroll?
I have no bones about how this management has treated Del Piero recently, at his age, 1-year extensions are perfectly reasonable. They were quick to offer him one this preseason, and I’m sure as long as he’s in good condition they’ll keep him on.
