PotD/VotD: La Partita Del Cuore

By: alessio | May 21st, 2009

Some of you were wondering about that game in Turin the other night. The 18th annual charity match, “Partita Del Cuore,” took place at the Stadio Olimpico di Torino this year, between the Ale+10 (Ale+Juventus legends and other random people who have money like Lapo) and the “Italian National Singers Team.” Like all good charity games, there was awful defending, plenty of goals, (ended 6-6) plenty of entertainment, and for extra drama, a penalty shootout in which Del Piero took up his favored position as goalkeeper. Sadly, I could not find a video of the shootout. If anyone can, post it and I’ll put it up here.

Some quality photos of quality players and videos of the event after the jump:

Two angry men.

Apparently Lapo got pretty gassed after about 25minutes. Not surprised.

Peruzzi was there, though he didn’t play in goal the entire time.

Our classy pre-Camo winger.

Does this lineup make you nostalgic for the 90s or what…

Del Piero having some fun as keeper.

I don’t care about the Roma-Milan result as much as the fact that Fiorentina is losing to Lecce….if this result holds, we are automatically qualified for the CL.

Yeah, last minute goal from Jorgensen. They are minus-3 now, and we’re tied with Milan, so theoretically there could be a 3-way tie if Juve+Milan lost and Fiorentina won next week. Unlikely, but so it goes.

Tiebreaks go on head-to-head results, right? So if we finish level with Milan, we’re 2nd?

“Tiebreaks go on head-to-head results, right? So if we finish level with Milan, we’re 2nd?”

I believe so. And in the above situation you mentioned where we’d all be tied for second, Juve would again have the head-to-head tie breaker over both Milan and Fiorentina.

    Milan 2 – 3 Roma
    Cagliari 2 – 1 Internazionale
    Lecce 1 – 1 Fiorentina
    Siena 0 – 3 Juventus

Great results (well, Fiora could’ve lost…)!

I was watching Milan vs Roma, awesome game. Now I need to download our game, it seems awesome too! :)

Yeah, just realized that Fiorentina is playing Milan next week so above situation is impossible.

That means, we’re at least 3rd. Hurray automatic qualification! See you next year, boys.

From wiki: “Since 2005–06, if two or more teams end the season with the same number of points, the ordering is determined by their head-to-head records. In case two or more teams have same total points and same head-to-head records, goal difference becomes the secondary deciding factor.”

Can we please sign Nedved to a year-extension? Marchisio and Del Piero were playing great, but Pavel tortured whoever was playing right-back for Siena and if it wasn’t for some heavy ADP/Iaquinta touches, would have had 3-4 assists today.

Zanetti was also class today…..our best DM when healthy. Allowed Marchisio a lot of freedom.

Giovinco was on the bench i believe, i thought i saw him walking with some of the team after the match (with a jersey on and yellow training jersey on top of it. I think he shouldve definitely come on instead of Poulsen, and i was hoping Amauri would get some time too, but it’s okay that he didnt because ADP was playing so well and Trezeguet deserves time also.

Anyways, glad to see us back to our winning ways, and ADP getting back his winning mentality along with the rest of the team thanks to Ferrara. BTW, Marchisio was amazing, setting up a goal and scoring one of his own, plus controlling the midfield. What an awesome display, he just showed he’s the future of the Juventus midfield. De Ceglie wasnt that bad either, even if he did do a bad tackle. Marchisio and Del Piero’s linkup though was just awesome. Del Piero puts in a beautiful free kick, Del Piero sets up Marchisio’s goal, and Marchisio sets up Del Piero’s goal. Doesnt get better than that, and i think the fact that Marchisio started out as a striker showed a bit today with his goal.

Also, i only caught the second half (though i watched the highlights for the first two goals), but Nedved was also playing great, in fact he was one of the best players today. I would want him to stay, but the thing is, we know he cant put in these kind of performances all year long, but at the same time a player like Nedved doesnt deserve to be sitting on the bench. Still though, we all wish we could keep him, but im pretty sure he’s gonna retire. We’ll all miss him.

I think he should retire. Why should we rob him of going out against the only other team he’s played for in Italy? That would be a beautiful moment for him. He was destined to retire this season.

Beautiful moment? Laziali do not like him. It’s not like Ferrara and Napoli.

I hope he plays on, as a reserve. Not starting, but man, coming off the bench or starting when rotating the squad, can anyone think of a better player? He’d certainly be better than Tiago/Almiron/Poulsen, and yes, I do hope he plyas as a center-mid.
