Photos and Ferrara’s Take on Livorno

By: roberto | September 21st, 2009

As the great coach that he is, Ciro Ferrara was satisfied with the victory against Livorno but still thinks there are various aspects which can be improved.“When it comes to the results we are very satisfied but we know that there are things to improve because we encountered some difficulties. This could also be due to the fact that the players on the field have played a lot”.

“We also had more chances to score. I wanted a merciless football when it came to wanting to win. We wanted the three points and we had to face the match with humility as we did and we brought home the victory”.

Praise for three great protagonists: “Gigi played a great match but Marchisio and Iaquinta who also deserve to be praised”.

Exhaustion could be an important factor: “My team could be tired but sometimes perhaps we run a bit for nothing using important energies and sometimes we tend to run after the opponents and therefore must try to hold the ball more and start the action”.

“It is a positive thing that we scored in the first half especially in the first minutes which allowed us to control the match. We must make sure that we keep up the consistency even though we are happy with the three points. Now we must think of Genoa which is a team of very high level”.

Well, I know Alessio, but I think we can really use a few players who haven't been available this weekend, and afterwards we can even keep them on the bench against Bologna. Would be a Murphy-Law if we can't count on any of them.
That's why I hope we can have Tiago and Melo back and start them alongside Camoranesi who is definitely finding his form.
Anyway I'd give Giovinco another shot with my eyes closed! Goal.com is just crying out for attention again.
And I'd really like to see Caceres again, not to stunning his last matches but his potential was very clear; great feeling over the ball, fast, smart, effective and looks much like Criscito to me.

I would also bring back Amauri next to in-form Iaquinta and rather give the latter a break in the upcoming weekend.

    So that makes:

    Buffon
    Caceres Legro Chiellini Grosso
    Camoranesi Melo Tiago
    Giovinco
    Iaquinta Amauri

Anyway these can be golden points and if we manage to get all 3 of them, inter will start shitting their pants.
  • thanks pablo!

Tomorrow is a massive game for Juve but not a defining one. I agree that we should not tinker with our tactics unless it evokes an advantage. Genoa have a very strong squad, and they play very well as a team. Suprisingly enough they play a fast tempo sort of style. With that said we are J U V E N T U S they are and should be fearing us even if we are missing quite a few of our guns. The bottle line is Ferrara is going to be highlighted to me - i am going to be fascinated how he manages the game. The subs, when he makes the subs, if he optimizing certain matchups in the back. I seriously hope we dont just count on the aerial attack either. I am sick of us losing so many possessions because we try and play a ball from the back instead of building from the back. I am very excited to see the level of intensity we brink. I think it is going to be a very close one til the very end - but i think we will edge them 2-1. Camo and Amuari get off the schnid. FORZA JUVE!!!
  • Ivo
Jem, Inter is also undefeated, but they lost a couple points on day one by drawing with Bari I think.

If you meant Juve can stay the only team with a perfect record, I'm with you on that one 100%!! :)
  • Jem
now that Samp lost, hopefully Juve can remain the only undefeated team!
  • Pablo
It's weird how good teams on the paper are struggling so bad so far. Napoli and Palermo should be doing ok, at least, not underperforming. Maybe it has to do with their coaches. Zenga is new so he might need some time and Donadoni... well, has he ever been a good coach?
  • Pablo
Genoa and us have half of the player each (I don't know if we have the Cris or the cito, though). At the end of the season we should agree where will he play the next season. If there's no agreement we can try to buy their half (or viceversa). If there's no agreement there, we will put in an envelope how much we are willing to pay for genoa's half and they will do the same, the bigger number will win (and obviuosly will have to be paid to the team losing the player).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure it works like that.
  • Ivo
It is funny how any comment by an inter fan, no matter what he/she says, doesn't even register the slightest of reaction in my head anymore.

I'd rather focus on Juve and what matters to me, those interistas are "air-wasters" anyways, as one of my good italian friends used to say.

I just cant wait to put my scarf on for the game tomorrow and take an hour long lunch from work. FORZA JUVE!
  • whats the deal with criscito? when do we get him back, if at all?
  • Kasia
Since Mickey is not posting anymore, MAD feels compelled to write some funny shit in his place :) That's charming.
  • Pablo
Yeah, I totally forgot about De Ceglie Robee. You are right, he can play there, but I still think that wouldn't be the right call.

Let's be humble, work like horses and get those 3 point back home... and show Criscito he should be playing for us :p
  • Hey all "Juventus Assholes" go take a look at what MAD posted on the Italy WCB. Don't stoop his level...keep the ad hominem to a minimum. Reading comments like his makes me glad to be a tifoso of the greatest Italian club.
  • I agree, Ivo. Genoa at the Marassi...this is a huge game and it's not time to tinker. What you said is the best I think, play defensive and on the counter. As long as we can absorb pressure (which I think we can if we play well) then we can win it.

    Callups-
    1 Buffon
    2 Caceres
    3 Chiellini
    4 Felipe Melo
    6 Grosso
    7 Salihamidzic
    8 Marchisio
    9 Iaquinta
    11 Amauri
    12 Chimenti
    13 Manninger
    15 Zebina
    16 Camoranesi
    17 Trezeguet
    18 Poulsen
    19 Molinaro
    20 Giovinco
    21 Grygera
    29 De Ceglie
    33 Legrottaglie
    39 Marrone

No Tiago, Diego, Del Piero who should be ready this weekend, Cannavaro and Sissoko maybe in a week and a half.
  • Robee
Pablo... Forgot about De Ceglie ?
  • KrissKrash
Ignore last post. I just realised the date. I'm an idiot.
  • KrissKrash
Anyone got a stream, I'm struggling to find one on the usual suspects. Myp2p, atdhe, bet365 etc
  • Pablo
Who said we are going to play 4-4-2 like last season? How are we planning to do that? Manninger as left midfielder?

I think we are going for the usual 4-3-1-2 with Camo as the 1, and I fully agree with that. But I think we should play Gio as a support striker instead of Amauri. Or at least put him in the second half after the defenders are tired of being pushed by Amauri.
  • Ivo
I think it was alessio that said this is the biggest game for Juve this season so far. At first I thought it was a bit outrageous, but thinking about - it makes sense. My question is, do we really need to experiment with our tactics for this crucial game? Why not just play the usual 4312 but play deeper and just play the counter attack more? It is in games like these where you see if the coach's tactics holds for this team.

It would really make my week if we get the three points. And after Napoli surprise Inter today, it will be even better. Someone wake me up... :)
  • Anton
Just read that Melo is included in the squad. Surely good news.
  • looks like its going to be the old 4 4 2 like under ranieri
  • ReleaseTheKrasic
Good news. The match is now going to be on FSC.

it is official that gio would not start on tomorrow games.

Hi guys, been following this blog for a while now, mostly been here just to read the comments, but thought i should be more vocal.

There's seems to be alot of anger and displeasure towards juve! What a difference the number of scudetti makes, and i am a bit surprised at the rivalry with roma. I always thought roma was more of a competitive rival and inter and milan are our real arch rivals.

anyway genoa would be a important and tough match, a win would send a strong message to the rest of the teams.

inter's win at cagliari was a blow. thought that they are going to lose until milito's goals of course. maybe its mourinho's team or that sometimes teams get intimidated by inter.

i think juve has lost a bit of that fear recently so it is important to win at genoa and send that kind of fear back to the hearts of our opponents. i'm sure the respect or fear, depending on how you guys see it will make a difference.

About giovinco, trez, i think they need more time, especially trez. And i agree that iaquinta takes too many chances, but as he scored when it matters i'm going to complaint.
  • I dont see a 4-3-3 working unless ADP makes a surprise return
  • I hope not for a 4-3-3 and not Camo as trequartista, play Gio again. 4-3-3 might be used to counterbalance Genoa's wingers, but who would we play up top? Gio-Iaquinta-Camo? Gio and Iaquinta would work, but we saw time and time again with the Nazionale that Camo doesn't work up there.

Tuttosport has an article about how Juve+Genoa together own 20 very promising talents for the future-
    http://www.tuttosport.com/calc...

Juve- D'Elia, Daud, Rossi, Immobile, Yago, Pasquato, Marchisio, De Ceglie, Giovinco, sorta Criscito
Genoa- Bocchetti, Ranocchia (awesome player, I've watched him grow immensely), Bonucci, El Shaarawy, Acquafresca, Forestieri, etc.
  • Calisi
However goal reports that Camoranesi will be used as a trequartista
  • Calisi
Well not today, tomorrow (all other matches are today).
  • Calisi
Gazzetta reporting we'll go with a 4-3-3 today (Camo on the right wing). Is this maybe to put some pressure on Genoa's 3-4-3? I don't see them play often but I'm assuming they have a middy or two who tend to sit back.
  • bianconeri
Whats really funny is that after inter beat Milan all the fans were saying how this season they will not only win but do it through attractive and dominating football, yet they failed to repeat any performace of that sort.
  • Nice build up to the genoa clash.. hysterical inter fans (yawn), opposition coach taking swipes, our injury problems, packed schedule... 3 points :D
  • Haha good read, Roberto.

He doesn’t count, because at least he had worked with and coached the Barcelona youth side, and had experience coaching."

Wtf has Ciro been doing the last 4-5 years? I know Juventus Primavera doesn't compete like Barcelona B, but I think his experience in the Nazionale suffices. Leonardo has 0 experience...don't drag Ciro into this.
  • Boy oh boy, Ciro's not gonna be happy about this...
Genoa coach Giampiero Gasperini has revealed to Centrocampo that he finds it surprising as to why giants Milan and Juventus selected relatively inexperienced coaches to lead their squads this season.

"The fact that coaches without experience are on the benches of two big Italian team perplexes me, and is a defeat for experienced coaches," he said. "I look up to both Leonardo and Ciro Ferrara, because if both Milan and Juventus have selected them, they must have their good reasons. I am just confused because either of them have worked in that role before."

The Rossoblu tactician also pointed to Barcelona coach, Pep Guardiola, who is also inexperienced at being the boss. He continued, "He doesn't count, because at least he had worked with and coached the Barcelona youth side, and had experience coaching. I don't take anything away from Ferrara or Leonardo, as they both seem good and can obtain the results."

"But for me, this is a defeat for experienced coaches."

I think that last part was Gasperini foreshadowing about Thursday's clash lol.

No prob Jorid, I was kidding really. But thanks to Al for the translation.

That loser's comments are beyond ridiculous!

    - How are we responsible for Cambiasso's injury? Did we hire Jeff Gillooly to take him out? Not that I'm aware of...
    - Lazio did not have a goal disallowed, as the whistle was blown BEFORE Mauri put the ball in the net for a valid foul. Just to clarify that.
    - LMFAO @ Roma's defenders playing poorly on purpose. That has to be probably the dumbest thing I've ever heard anyone say!
    - I don't get the reference to a penalty in a game that Inter won. I don't see what we have to do with that. Same for the penalty against Genoa (he conveniently leaves out the fact that Genoa got 2 penalties in that game though...)
    - Again, how does Mourinho getting banned for one game affect us? As far as I know, we don't play Inter until December. And Napoli has beaten them before WITH Mourinho on the bench. So...

Inter fans like that guy need to just get a life. Seriously. Go outside, take some fresh air, make friends, try to get laid etc. Just shows how pathetic some of them are; *4 straight titles and still obsessed with Juve. Sad, just sad.

*We know they didn't actually win 4, but whatever, let them have something.
  • Jorid
Sorry Nnahoj. You are correct and it was douchey/inconsiderate on my part. Al, however translated it perfectly. It was pretty much a comment from the usual hopeless sore-loser scum who somehow finds a link between Juve and every negative thing the world has ever seen, sees and will see in the future. I bet inter fans think Juve and their "constantly manipulative manners" are to be blamed for both World Wars, AIDS, 9/11 etc.
  • bianconeri
FSC is really pissing me off with their champions league schedule. Not only will they not show Juve-Bayern but they won't replay it until 11am the next day.
  • Rinaldo
This is our biggest game so far this season, and I have no doubt we should play our strongest starting 11: Buffon; Grosso, Chiellini, Legrottaglie, Caceres; Marchisio (despite his tiredness), Poulsen (unless Melo's available), Camoranesi; GIOVINCO; Iaquinta, Amauri.

Half this team can take a rest for the Bologna game, but 3 points against Genoa would be golden.
  • al
Nnahoj, I take a shot (Ale, Jorid, Roberto, cmiiw):

It feels like that there is a strong conspiracy among all: media, newspapers, sport court(?), referees, Lippi, for Juventus to win the Scudetto.

It can be seen already in that tournament after 4 matches: Cambiasso's injury, Lazio's goal that was disallowed, Roma's defender that played poorly against Juve (maybe the errors they made were intentional) , the penalties set up against Inter Milan and Genoa at the beginning of the game (next time, it will be set up for Sampdoria), two-match ban for Criscito (if the match between Genoa and Juve were to be played at week 6, then he would have been given 3-match ban), expulsion to Mourinho for doing nothing (it is nothing compared to what totti, de rossi, Amauri etc. done, combined) All this happensed after only 4 matches.
  • Nnahoj
Even though Diego says he's fit and is itching to come back, I guess we should start him on the bench as a precaution. If we need him then bring him on. Same for the game on Sunday against Bologna. We need him in the best shape possible for Bayern next Wednesday.

Also, between Jorid and Alessio, could one of you translate what the Inter scum said? I'm sure we non-Italian speakers would like to laugh too. Inside jokes amongst company is bad manners ;P
  • georg
I'm still wondering what will happen to sissoko. apparently the renegotions for his new contracts are getting well, and if he gets back in form , who must be left out of the squad??? all midfielders contribute very well lately even the condammed tiago and poulsen
  • Robee
Important news fresh from Vinovo !

Melo and Salihamidzic are completely fit and are training with the group. Condition or form is another matter, but we should be able to count on these two on thursday.

Del Piero and Diego are still on an individual program, but were also completing the group in some technical exercices for the attackers. Which can only indicate positive things of course :). Still question marks above their heads anyway.

Tiago, Cannavaro and Sissoko are still working entirely individual.
