Photos and Ferrara’s Take on Livorno
By: roberto | September 21st, 2009As the great coach that he is, Ciro Ferrara was satisfied with the victory against Livorno but still thinks there are various aspects which can be improved.“When it comes to the results we are very satisfied but we know that there are things to improve because we encountered some difficulties. This could also be due to the fact that the players on the field have played a lot”.
“We also had more chances to score. I wanted a merciless football when it came to wanting to win. We wanted the three points and we had to face the match with humility as we did and we brought home the victory”.
Praise for three great protagonists: “Gigi played a great match but Marchisio and Iaquinta who also deserve to be praised”.
Exhaustion could be an important factor: “My team could be tired but sometimes perhaps we run a bit for nothing using important energies and sometimes we tend to run after the opponents and therefore must try to hold the ball more and start the action”.
“It is a positive thing that we scored in the first half especially in the first minutes which allowed us to control the match. We must make sure that we keep up the consistency even though we are happy with the three points. Now we must think of Genoa which is a team of very high level”.

However goal reports that Camoranesi will be used as a trequartista

I hope not for a 4-3-3 and not Camo as trequartista, play Gio again. 4-3-3 might be used to counterbalance Genoa’s wingers, but who would we play up top? Gio-Iaquinta-Camo? Gio and Iaquinta would work, but we saw time and time again with the Nazionale that Camo doesn’t work up there.
Tuttosport has an article about how Juve+Genoa together own 20 very promising talents for the future-
http://www.tuttosport.com/calcio/serie_a/genoa/2009/09/23-40400/Genoa-Juve%2C+la+partita+del+futuroJuve- D’Elia, Daud, Rossi, Immobile, Yago, Pasquato, Marchisio, De Ceglie, Giovinco, sorta Criscito
Genoa- Bocchetti, Ranocchia (awesome player, I’ve watched him grow immensely), Bonucci, El Shaarawy, Acquafresca, Forestieri, etc.Posted from

I dont see a 4-3-3 working unless ADP makes a surprise return

Hi guys, been following this blog for a while now, mostly been here just to read the comments, but thought i should be more vocal.
There’s seems to be alot of anger and displeasure towards juve! What a difference the number of scudetti makes, and i am a bit surprised at the rivalry with roma. I always thought roma was more of a competitive rival and inter and milan are our real arch rivals.
anyway genoa would be a important and tough match, a win would send a strong message to the rest of the teams.
inter’s win at cagliari was a blow. thought that they are going to lose until milito’s goals of course. maybe its mourinho’s team or that sometimes teams get intimidated by inter.
i think juve has lost a bit of that fear recently so it is important to win at genoa and send that kind of fear back to the hearts of our opponents. i’m sure the respect or fear, depending on how you guys see it will make a difference.
About giovinco, trez, i think they need more time, especially trez. And i agree that iaquinta takes too many chances, but as he scored when it matters i’m going to complaint.

I think it was alessio that said this is the biggest game for Juve this season so far. At first I thought it was a bit outrageous, but thinking about – it makes sense. My question is, do we really need to experiment with our tactics for this crucial game? Why not just play the usual 4312 but play deeper and just play the counter attack more? It is in games like these where you see if the coach’s tactics holds for this team.
It would really make my week if we get the three points. And after Napoli surprise Inter today, it will be even better. Someone wake me up…

Who said we are going to play 4-4-2 like last season? How are we planning to do that? Manninger as left midfielder?
I think we are going for the usual 4-3-1-2 with Camo as the 1, and I fully agree with that. But I think we should play Gio as a support striker instead of Amauri. Or at least put him in the second half after the defenders are tired of being pushed by Amauri.

I agree, Ivo. Genoa at the Marassi…this is a huge game and it’s not time to tinker. What you said is the best I think, play defensive and on the counter. As long as we can absorb pressure (which I think we can if we play well) then we can win it.
Callups-
1 Buffon
2 Caceres
3 Chiellini
4 Felipe Melo
6 Grosso
7 Salihamidzic
8 Marchisio
9 Iaquinta
11 Amauri
12 Chimenti
13 Manninger
15 Zebina
16 Camoranesi
17 Trezeguet
18 Poulsen
19 Molinaro
20 Giovinco
21 Grygera
29 De Ceglie
33 Legrottaglie
39 MarroneNo Tiago, Diego, Del Piero who should be ready this weekend, Cannavaro and Sissoko maybe in a week and a half.

Hey all “Juventus Assholes” go take a look at what MAD posted on the Italy WCB. Don’t stoop his level…keep the ad hominem to a minimum. Reading comments like his makes me glad to be a tifoso of the greatest Italian club.

Yeah, I totally forgot about De Ceglie Robee. You are right, he can play there, but I still think that wouldn’t be the right call.
Let’s be humble, work like horses and get those 3 point back home… and show Criscito he should be playing for us :p

Since Mickey is not posting anymore, MAD feels compelled to write some funny shit in his place

whats the deal with criscito? when do we get him back, if at all?

It is funny how any comment by an inter fan, no matter what he/she says, doesn’t even register the slightest of reaction in my head anymore.
I’d rather focus on Juve and what matters to me, those interistas are “air-wasters” anyways, as one of my good italian friends used to say.
I just cant wait to put my scarf on for the game tomorrow and take an hour long lunch from work. FORZA JUVE!

Genoa and us have half of the player each (I don’t know if we have the Cris or the cito, though). At the end of the season we should agree where will he play the next season. If there’s no agreement we can try to buy their half (or viceversa). If there’s no agreement there, we will put in an envelope how much we are willing to pay for genoa’s half and they will do the same, the bigger number will win (and obviuosly will have to be paid to the team losing the player).
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure it works like that.

It’s weird how good teams on the paper are struggling so bad so far. Napoli and Palermo should be doing ok, at least, not underperforming. Maybe it has to do with their coaches. Zenga is new so he might need some time and Donadoni… well, has he ever been a good coach?

now that Samp lost, hopefully Juve can remain the only undefeated team!

Jem, Inter is also undefeated, but they lost a couple points on day one by drawing with Bari I think.
If you meant Juve can stay the only team with a perfect record, I’m with you on that one 100%!!

Tomorrow is a massive game for Juve but not a defining one. I agree that we should not tinker with our tactics unless it evokes an advantage. Genoa have a very strong squad, and they play very well as a team. Suprisingly enough they play a fast tempo sort of style. With that said we are J U V E N T U S they are and should be fearing us even if we are missing quite a few of our guns. The bottle line is Ferrara is going to be highlighted to me – i am going to be fascinated how he manages the game. The subs, when he makes the subs, if he optimizing certain matchups in the back. I seriously hope we dont just count on the aerial attack either. I am sick of us losing so many possessions because we try and play a ball from the back instead of building from the back. I am very excited to see the level of intensity we brink. I think it is going to be a very close one til the very end – but i think we will edge them 2-1. Camo and Amuari get off the schnid. FORZA JUVE!!!
