Oh Shit.

Thanks to Adam for the pics.

As of 10pm EST, Juventus.com is calling it a sprained knee. (~1 month out) The Gazzetta says there’s damage (maybe strained, not torn) to the ligaments. (6 weeks-6 months) Every tifoso bianconero is saying “oh shit.”

One last piece of news, Legrottaglie has been called up by Lippi to the National side for the upcoming friendly to replace Chiellini. Good, he should have been going instead of Barzagli or Bonera, but of course he says he’d rather be going with Giorgio instead of him. I don’t know if Lippi is planning on playing him, but I swear to God, if Legro gets injured, no more preseason games for any Juventino, we’ve had enough injuries.

  • mellberg and legro better get it together. :) lucky it had nothing to do with giorgio's cruciate ligament. think 45-60 days is as best as we couldve hoped for.
  • I guess Domenech will have to let him come back to Turin now...

    Oh... right...
  • calisi
    Well this doesn't look good..

It is being reported that Ibra is down with a knee injury again. If this is true, it would be interesting to see Inter without Adriano and him for a few matches. Although, the team does have 96 strikers so it is probably no issue. I wouldn't mind seeing Inter dropping points early though :D
  • John
Really nice flag. Shame the number on the Scudetto badge is wrong:D
  • agiamba
I've seen that one. Awesome that it was spotted in the States. I'd absolutely love to buy a flag but I haven't seen a good one online, that one is nice but too cluttered for me. If anyone knows of a site for a good one or a specific link, rest assured that flag will be hanging proud on my wall all season long, thanks to you!
  • calisi
Check out this Juve flag my girlfriend saw this past weekend. http://frankv.calise.us/images... , was at an Italian festival in Cleveland.
  • calisi
Yeah I would hope Iaquinta over Di Natale, and probably should have had Cassano in over Gilardino? I didn't think his Fiorentina goal was that great but I didn't watch the whole match so not sure how well he played.
  • Calisi, Iaquinta is feeling better now. He's staying with the Azzurri.

Simply based on who's more in form, I expect an ADP-Gilardino-Iaquinta attack on Wednesday. :)
  • agiamba
I hope he plays in a good position for him. But then again, if anyone knows Alex it's Lippi.
  • calisi
Delps will be playing in the trident tomorrow for Lippi with Di Natale and Gila.
  • adam
Thank god Giovinco came back healthy.
  • calisi
I think Iaquinta is skipping also, read it at channel4 if I remember correctly.
  • Camoranesi's gonna skip Wednesday's friendly. He's still struggling with some muscular problems apparently. No news yet about whether he'll stay with the team, or fly back to Turin.
  • agiamba
Yess. While I'd never wish an injury on a player, Mutu out of the Viola's lineup does give me massive relief.

And yes, we have 10 call ups- Grygera for Czech Republic, Sissoko for Mali, Manninger for Austria, Poulsen for Denmark, Mellberg for Sweden, and Camoranesi, Legro, Iaquinta, Buffon, and ADP for Italy. Makes me proud, but I hope none come back injured.
  • calisi
Actually found the injury on the Viola website, looks like he dislocated his elbow. Mutu will be out for 20 days or so, missing their CL 2nd leg and the match with Juve.

    Tiago to Everton -> http://www.goal.com/en-US/Arti...

1m euros on loan with option to buy for 10m next summer. Could almost make our money back.

Also, Mutu picked up an injury (they have not said how bad yet) during International duties. This could maybe offset the first match of the season missing Chiellini.. although you just never like to see any players get injured like this. With all of our call-ups (I believe 10), lets hope there are no more injuries.
  • hmmmm just got Rai Italia installed for the first time and this is a player i wouldve definatly have loved to see. Dammit! we'll miss his thumping headers into the back of the net for the first 6 weeks. Think this is Mellbergs chance? I would love to see young de ceglie belt down the wing!
  • calisi
Did anyone watch this Serie A preview on FSC today? Watching it now, not sure if this was the first showing of it or not.
  • agiamba
Ditto, Adam. I'd love for him to shut me up, but I don't see it happening. Let's hope De Ceglie has a season like Giorgio last year!
  • adam
Marco we all wouldn't mind eating our words regarding Molinaro.

  • Marco, what do you think of this picture?
    http://www.channel4.com/sport/...

I just hope Molinaro told Ranieri “vaffanculo” or something that might break their bizarre man-love! The bench calls, Cristian!

Ahah you wish alessio. CM all the way! I just wish he gets 20 assists this season just to shut you up.
  • calisi
Yeah that was a great thing to see.
  • agiamba
That's probably my favorite topic ever on VecchiaSignora, Iaquinta writing a personal note to us tifosi, and photo proof that it's not just his agent typing it up.
  • calisi
    Sort of like Iaquinta's, http://www.vecchiasignora.com/...
  • agiamba
    I dig Giovinco's shades
  • adam
lol it looks like in the first pic the guy wearing red threw the roma scarf on Giovinco's shoulder.
  • agiamba
Sensis passing reminds me of the l'Avvocato, Gianni Agnelli. If he was around, we wouldn't have this management and Calciopoli woulda never happened.
  • agiamba
Haha, that guy in the 3rd picture has the weirdest hairstyle.
  • calisi
Goal.com probably planted it there in need of more transfer rumor articles.
  • adam
Yea I thought that it was for the passing of Sensi, but I think he came way before that. The other pic has someone in the bcak holding it maybe he gave it to Giovinco just for a pic.

What's with the stadio olimpico ASR banner/scarf?

I'm confident we can come together in defense. People were saying the exact same thing last year, that without Andrade we were done. We had the 2nd-best defense in Serie A, even with the penalties.

Italian newspapers are reporting that while at the beach in Lecce, Juventus legend Antonio Conte (who I profiled a few weeks ago) was beaten by several guys. The papers guess (and so do I) it's because he took the Bari coaching job, who are bitter rivals with Lecce Merda. I guess those pieces of shit forgot he played for them for 7 years before joining the good guys. I can't tell you how happy I was when he joined Bari instead of Lecce, maybe he can come coach at Juve someday, he's done great work with Bari. I hope those assholes get caught.
  • calisi
Well that is good news that it isn't any longer, however this couldn't have happened at a worse time I feel like. His great Euro2008 performance along with his loyalty to the team and goal to one day be captain, to his Champions League goal etc. He was really performing well, showing strength and leadership and it is a big blow to the team in several ways.

Our first matches through September are Fior, Udinese, Cagliari, Catania, and Sampdoria. There are some good quality strikers on a few of those teams and missing Chiellini to challenge them has to make you worry a little. I'm confident in Legro/Mellberg to step up and play hard, and let's face it, things could be worse if we were facing Inter, Roma, and Milan in the first few weeks. But, the first few matches we do play are by no means a cake walk and we need a good start.
  • adam
Chiellini is out for a month, should be back by the end of september.
  • KJ
Ok, a month may not seem too long, but in reality a "month" out is enough to ruin your scudetto dreams...

Juve was my preseason pick, but no way without the rock of your defense
