Napoli’s Malocchio Comes Through, Quagliarella Injured

SOCCER-ITALY/

“My point is this, it would be foolish to think we should rely on Quagliarella to score goals like a machine, as he’s been doing, throughout all of next year and down the stretch to make up for an impotent prima punta.” - Me

There it is proof positive it didn’t take a genius to figure out we needed a back-up. The bad thing about this was that Fabio went down in agony without any contact from another player. My guess is he’s out for a very, very long time. Check often for the latest updates. God, what a horrible start to the New Year. More shit storms after the jump.

Melo you stupid fuck. Go back to wherever you came from you freak, and while you’re at it, try learn something about the game of football you mindless piece of shit. Worthless, you’re worthless. I’ve got more intelligence in the tip of my finger. Give me Sissoko any day of the week compared to this loser liability. Fuck you Melo. Block me from your twitter account too you dumb fuck, who gives a shit about you anyways. Vaffanculo Felipe, how dare you sell-out your teammates like that.

Also Palladino don’t think you’re cool buddy, you look like a damn transvestite.

IERI… OGGI… DOMANI… SEMPRE JUVE!!!

ummmmmmm...i just saw this and had absolutely NO idea whatsoever, what the hell this is about - http://www.goal.com/en-india/n...

    SERIOUSLY? TONI?
we need a prima punta to finish and we go and bring in toni?
even just as quagliarella's replacement but still, bring in a younger, more trustworthy player...
true or not..toni is just terrible, his 2006 world cup days are over....

  • Wondermaker

I really think we need to go for Klose. He's not playing regularly and is better than anyone we have. I would rather play Libertazzi than Toni.

  • Lawyoe

Im really scared for juve this year. if we dont bring in any reinforcements, trust me Champions league spot is a difficult objective. amauri is shit, he shuld be sold right away. they should've gotten dzeko on loan first perhaps then maybe permanently in the summer come on that shit is not hard to figure out. barzagli is decent, also get santacroce as he can play in the right. then we need a sub for krasic someone who can play both wings.
    i think we shuld get
in - barzagli(expiring contract should be cheap), santacroce(underrated buy him cheap), srna(unlikely though) schelotto(loan), adebayor(loan) G. rossi/paloschi NOT TONI hes gna be the same shit as amauri
    out- amauri, salihadmidzic, grygera

i know this seems like a lot of players but we have really relied on few player's brilliance in the 1st half of the season. and like yesterday vs parma, we really had no players that can turn the game around, not even on the sub bench, it looked like last year's juve under zac. krasic is no nedved and im guessing he never will be. without supply and support he cant be expected to change the game that often. we reaally lack depth esp after quag is out i really cant find a player that can lead the team. adp is way too old. if marotta thinks the squad is good enough n make 0 purchases then i think bye bye champions league

  • Robbiejuve

Its good to see Melo learnt his lesson from the world cup and has tamed his temper.

  • Arunashamal

I don't mind we losing once in a while, but what is hard is that we are starting to lose grips with Milan and teams like Inter can come from back to haunt us.

  • FollowTheSun

more than anything this match essentially displayed our lack of depth...quality players. you need a squad to win a championship, even finish 4th...

  • Jdangkasa

This is a horrible result. We were unlucky when Quag got injured, and then Melo went out of control and got himself a nice red card as a new year present. The first incident conditioned the match, ensuring that we will suffer down the left, because Quag's defensive duty is to stop the opposition's right back. Del Piero and Amauri up front means that we can't play with 10 man behind the ball. So Marchisio had to play wider to cover Quag's absence, opening up the center midfield by a little bit.

And then Melo went boom. Needless to say, this means that the already weakened center midfield (due to Marchisio having to play wider) are now so thin that Zebina could have dribbled through like Messi with his eye blindfolded.

Now if we look at Krasic's side, we'll realize that he'll never going to offer much in defense, since his main duty is to offer a counterattacking outlet (meaning he has to stand further up the pitch than the other 3 midfielders) and we'd rely on Sorensen for defense. Here, we're unlucky that his inexperience, coupled with Giovinco's determination to prove his worth, leads to him playing worse than usual.

So, before the 20 minute mark, we've practically lose most of our defensive cover from midfield, with only Aquilani and Marchisio to cover the backline. Of course, Delneri realizes this, so he subbed Del Piero with Pepe to shore up the midfield and give support to the defence.

Truth be told, I didn't see the whole game. I only saw the highlight, and read some reports. But if we look at the highlight, then we'll realize that all 3 Parma goals started from our left side. Grosso, now left exposed without adequate cover (he used to have Marchisio and Quag helping him), has been targeted as our main weak link. The 4th goal came when our players stopped running. Grinta aside, it's physically taxing for 10 men to play 90 minutes against 11 men, especially since we've used 2 subs within the first 30 mins.

So there you go. This game, while it's an excrutiatingly painful experience, could well be a blessing in disguise, IF we learn from it. Marotta, Agnelli, Delneri, Del Piero, Nedved, etc, should know by now that behind that first eleven that have played so magnificently last year, we have no depth whatsoever, no plan-B tactically speaking, and we over-rely on Krasic and Quag for offence. And Melo should learn (or someone should tell him) that with his disciplinary record, there will ALWAYS be provocation coming to him. Heck, I would provoke him if I go against him. He HAS TO learn how to deal with it. This will be a test to Delneri's man-management. He handled Cassano in Samp, so let's hope that he will contain Melo's "man-child"-ness.

  • ElHefe

Of course to drown my sorrows I decide to play some Football Manager 2011. The 2nd game I was playing today happened to be against Parma. I had Fabio Grosso red card in the first min and Giovinco gets the penalty goal then later in the first half Quags off with a red card himself and Giovinco then scores another goal. WTF, I've never seen 2 reds in a first half on the game, someone was messing with me. I had to ragequit Alt + F4 ftw.

  • LMFAO. I'm in first place after just over half a dozen games. I have all wins and.......a 4-0 loss to Brescia at the Rigamonti. (-_-) . The highest rating a player of mine got was a 6.2 and it was Dzeko. Needless to say I disciplined pretty much every single one of them after the game.

Had only gotten scored on once in the Serie A prior to that match too.

Will play some FM as soon as I finish this essay lol. I have sorrows from earlier today to drown.

  • Everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. Firstly Quag's injury...which took the team down to playing with ten men, as amauri, his replacement, is simply not a footballer. he can't pass, cant dribble, can't run, cant head, can't tackle. He is washed up, flotsam on the beach, and someone should just put the fucker out of his and our misery...so down to ten players after 3 minutes.

Then...Big Phil reverted to the self-destructive volatile child he was for most of last season and during the world cup. The problem is his destructive tendencies ruined the game for us, taking our team down to 9 PLAYERS on the pitch. 9 v 11...we were fucked. Didn't stand a chance.

Melo needs to learn. Or to be sold. As no top teams continue with players who kick opponents in the face for fun. Still, on the basis of the last few months, we should keep him, but ANY more of this kind of bullshit, come summer time, he has to be sold. Send him to a team which doesn't have ambition of reaching the upper echelons of domestic and european football. He will be happier there...He must understand how responsible he is for the defeat. And also for the weakened midfield we will now have for what?? 2/3 games??? for the duration of his suspension.

The main problem we had in this game, was playing 9 v 11. Looking at it that way makes it easier to understand and accept the result was down to some shocking misfortune, an individual attack of puerile volatility, Grosso's complete lack of defending the left flank, and mainly...lack of squad depth.

To see la formica atomica do so well, made it easy to compare him with our left winger...Pepe. With Lanzafame gone, maybe Marotta will be tempted to bring back Giovinco??? he was very respectful in staying silent when he scored both goals, especially as he must have been bubbling inside with joy and excitement. A good showing from the lad...

Whilst Sorensen had Giovinco to mark, i don't see the young dane as the main culprit for his goals, I see the main blame going to grosso, who simply does not defend his flank .he is invisible. Another footballer whose time has long finished. Really, for large portions of this match we were literally playing 8 v 11...Sorensen was dragged into the middle, due to grosso not defending his flank, and the whole defence desperately trying to cover...if grosso added much to the offence, i could understand, but he doesn't and didn't.

With this squad, we can get into the champions league, our aims should remain top four, with hopes of 2nd/3rd.

Its painfully obvious that we need:
    new prima punta
    left back
to get Melo right in the head, or to sell him.

  • AZAP

sorensen was all over giovinco and covered him very well, he only ever got caught out trying to cover the middle... hes young and rb is a foreign poition to him so with time he will surely develop

  • I'd put a RB right after the 'new prima punta' line.

We desperately need one, Motta is shit, Grygera is often injured, Sorensen is still only 18 and needs some help on there.

  • AlaskaJuventino

I watched the replay again and Paci definitely does kick Melo in the groin, studs-up. That deserved a yellow. Melo's reaction was supremely stupid though, and it did cost us the game, but I'm not particularly surprised he reacted the way he did. To be honest, I probably would have done the same (and been rightfully sent off), and I like to think I have even more self-control than Melo does. It just seemed like a knee-jerk response: get hit in the balls, lash out.

  • exactly. I think everyone should lay off melo for a while. It did look like he felt pretty bad when he was walking off the pitch and we shouldn't start rejecting him after all the good things he's done for us this season.

  • hant00

i think Marotta must pull all the stops now, i.e. forget the financial wisdom of transfers..

put it this way: i'd rather see Juventus not playing in Champions League due to UEFA's sanction through Financial Fair Play (because they splash the cash buying all kinds of proper reinforcements), than not playing in it because of low league standing and poor performance resulting from garage-sale buyings

  • AZAP

melo reaction was the correct choice maybe could of done it more discreetly later in the match lol but ive done much worse on a football pitch when players have stomped on my cock thats for sure.... forza melo continue the way you have been playing buddy fora juventus hopefully we can sign matri :D

  • Oliviero

I don't know how everyone else feels about this and I'm not sure if I've brought this up before but i think we should go after Fernando Llorente. He's big, strong, fast enough, and scores with both feet and his head and I don't think he would be overly expensive. Hes the prototypical prima punta. He's been one of the most underrated forwards in the world for several years now and I really would consider trying to sign him if I were Marotta. I think the hardest thing would be actually convincing the player to leave. Any thoughts?

  • BAGGIO10

He would be a great fit for our team and help us for sure, i would prefer him to Pazzini and Matri thats for sure, he is younger and a better player than both of them plus we already have lots of italians on the team. I respect the ital-juve concept but there aren't many italian forwards out there right now that you can call world class.

  • Sky Sport 24 in Italy claims Juventus have chosen Luca Toni as the reinforcement in attack. According to them, negotiations are currently taking place and Toni is even willing to reduce his salary since Preziosi doesn't want to loan him out for just 6 months. He still has 1,5 years left on his contract. Juve has chosen him due to the emergency issue and after Quagliarella's situation is cleared up, Juve will most likely look at Maxi Lopez or Huntelaar as an option.

These are a few comments from the thread about this rumor on Vecchia Signora:

"Buying Toni would be like tinting your ass with neon paint in a gay meeting at night while being in the Ivory Coast."

Replying to a comment who had said: "Can you imagine Amauri and Toni playing together up front?" another poster said: "With all due respect, a gay porno is better than that."

"If we have to get Toni it's better if we stay like this."

"Toni is a finished player who resembles a night table with his mobility. He's 34 and earns a ridiculous wage. It would be a pointless purchase...POINTLESS"

Discuss. If this happens and Toni is outright purchased, there will be no words to describe my rage.

  • Luca!

you are an utter moron. Toni is still class and is easily way better than any crap CF juve currently have available. iaquinta and amuri are so overrated. esp iaquianta. the only reason Toni's been struggling at Genoa is because palacios the only real creative player in the genoa squad has been out for most of the season. and that dumb f Ballardini thinks playing destro to partner Toni up front is a good idea. destro is overrated inter scum. while rudolf would've been the better choice. with the addition of Toni, juve actually might be a team to fear. that is if krasic could stay on his feet

  • Nnahoj

"If we have to get Toni it's better if we stay like this."

I said this exact same thing to a Milanista friend of mine yesterday.

Buying Toni to replace Amauri is like buying a Peugeot to replace a Citroen; they're both shit cars!

Come on Marotta, it's no time to be frugal. We need quality NOW. At least get us a Volkswagen.

  • LOL "reinforcement"

  • Sampath

ohh FUCK OFF! This is a FUCKING joke! FUCK! LUCA TONI? SERIOUSLY! After what we had to go through last night and waking up today morning to news like this. FUCK!

  • Rdj8

    completely agree on every comment.

I just dont understand why a club like Juventus would like to buy a 34 year old striker who cant do sh**t !

  • agiamba

Luca Toni is the same as Amauri. An awfully slow, dreadful, old, shitty striker who can hold up play but not score. Please- Iaquinta looks like Inzaghi next to the two of them.

  • Rdj8

NO ONE is the same as Amauri..The only one who is a tiny bit better than him but almost at his level is my Grandmother.

  • Spot on, you forgot just a simple detail:

For this tremendous offensive coup, we'd be dealing with Preziosi, again.

  • BAGGIO10

Iaquinta is average at best and Amauri has never looked good in a juve shirt so Toni will definitely be an improvement but if it does happen then i will be furious and extremely angry. A 33 year old is not our solution and he is very slow which will harm us even more, we need to splash 10-15 mill on a good striker and enough of these garbage players. Matri or Pazzini are not amazing but a big improvement, Pazzo will probably cost 15-20 mill minimum and that is overpriced for me, i think we should buy suarez or even cardozo from benfica as they are good players and their price wont be much of a difference to Pazzini's. Please Marotta do something ffs.

  • Unfortunately:

    Cardozo=Non EU
    Suarez=Non EU

    No dice.

    Pazzini or Matri asap.

  • BAGGIO10

totally forgot about that!! ouch lol. I would like to see Llorente play for juve instead of Matri who is average and Pazzini who is a very good player but not world class, Llorente isn't at this stage of his career either but he is a better goal scoring machine than both of them

  • Guest

I was looking at the accendi una stella campaign (https://accendiunastella.juven..., where people buy gold or platinum stars with their names engraved inside, close to their chosen players, by the new stadium.

The prices are not too bad, but predictably, Del Piero, Scirea, Nedved, Platini, Baggio, Buffon, and not so predictably, Boniek, are all sold out. There are plenty of other legends on the list, of course.

I might consider buying one...Paolo Rossi still has gold star spots available. hmm...

  • DonJuanzz

wow.. how to do that? and is the new stadium open for visitors already?

  • vladonne

The smart thing to do for Marotta now is to quickly sign Mutu(Fiorentina are giving him for free) and at least 8-9 goals and some assists are guaranteed for the rest of the season.

  • hant00

i imagine Mutu and Melo would have a slapfight all the time. why not recalling Zebina while we're at it?

  • Robee

How would that be smart ? We need an immediate improvement ? Not someone who hans't played a full match in about a year...

  • vladonne

Mutu is not Zebina, and not Melo(he doesn't get in figths on the pitch; also he played alongside Melo at Firenze and I see it as an advantage). He had problems outside the stadiums but he is still a "fuoriclasse", even if he hasn't played that much in the last year. Yes, he's not in his top form, but let's consider that he plays for a long time for Fiorentina and that Prandelli isn't his coach anymore. I think a change cumulated with GDN will trigger him up to give at least one year of good performances. Also let's not forget that Mutu played some good football in the Capello era at Juventus, even if he was used as an attacking midfielder and not as a secunda punta, where he excels. And he would come almost for free, he can be quite reasonable with his financial requirements(he likes Italy and he refused to go in Turkey, Russia or Middle East). I think a year of contract between him and Juve wouldn't do any harm.

  • Robee

It is about the same case as Cassano or even worse...

We did not take Cassano because he's simply put insane and could break the team's harmony. Mutu is also a knuckle-head, who recently just walked off the pitch during training...

With Cassano we were even certain we would've had an immediate upgrade in quality. Mutu is 32 years old, offers no future and it would ake him at least month to get his fitness level up to some standards and than another month to learn Delneri's tactics... By then Quagliarella is back.

Also, he fucking left during calciopoli, so I see no reason what so ever, to bring him in...

  • vladonne

    Fiorentina is* there.

  • It is true that he has had a great season up until this moment. But man it was stupid what he did. I would not go as far as getting rid of him like some have suggested. Del Neri needs to coach him up work with him on his mental game again.

  • Man, what the hell was Melo thinking. Seriously the guy must have had an aneurysm or something. This is another level of dumb. I mean did he think he could pull off a Nigel De Jong in the world cup final. How the hell do you categorize this; stupid-douchebag-dumbass. Del Neri should be an expert at dealing with a situation like this i.e. Cassano.
