great result, however, i am very upset. why does ranieri hate superseba? he is SOOO much better than tiago and yet tiago gets to play a full 90? thats bullshit. tiago is crap and doesn't deserve that much playing time - he should've been sold lonnng ago. giovinco has proven himself and deserves time on the pitch. what is up with ranieri???

From Juventus.com: Juventus skipper Alex Del Piero left his mark on a match brilliantly won by the bianconeri by scoring a great goal from something similar to thirty metres from goal. Halloween passed by the Juve magician insists on performing magic numbers. In a comment after the final whistle Del Piero said: «We’re happy because we have shown continuity and consistency in our performances. The victory against Roma is the result of a collective effort and not of one or two players in particular».

Ranieri's praise: The Juventus coach expressed his satisfaction after the match which saw Juventus beat Roma by 2-0. Mr Ranieri made it a point to congratulate Marco Marchionni and Tiago. «I would like to congratulate all the players who showed great team spirit, with the attackers who managed to score and create a good number of chances even though forced to cover. I am glad that Marco (Marchionni) managed to score after going near in the last few matches. He is a great person who works really hard and his name on the scorers list today is a prize for all his efforts. Tiago played well and was Juve’s metronome in the midfield, who managed to give tempo to the team and in so doing to prove himself as a player of great quality. What should I say of Del Piero? When he shoots free-kicks in such a manner it is so hard to beat him».

And words from Marchionni: Marco Marchionni has been hunting for a goal for quite some time with luck denying him the joy of scoring in the most recent matches. However the match against Roma is a different story and the keen midfielder managed to break the spell scoring the second of the two goals in the important victory. "It’s like a new beginning for me. Today I managed to score in what seems to be a particular moment for me» Asked whether he is an alternative to Camoranesi or a problem for Ranieri, the Juve midfielder said he hopes to be the latter but that he is conscious of the fact that he has to sweat hard to win a place in the starting line-up."

Well, I agree with Alessandro's point sort of. I think John meant at their best, regardless of club or national side it's a joy to watch them play, not necessarily classifying them into greats. Del Piero at his best is just sensational to watch...

Alessandro Del Piero is one of those players, in the same bracket as Maradona, Zidane and Brazil's Ronaldo, who you can never tire of watching. For a start he is the reason I love Juventus, and I guess he is the reason I'm typing on this blog, eight years after first watching him! I think we all knew it would be hard for him to top his capocannoniere season of last year, but he's went one step further, and created his own exclusive Goal of the Season competition.

Take your pick Ladies and Gent's

Del Piero vs Roma
Del Piero vs Real Madrid
Del Piero vs Zenit
Del Piero vs An....champions league qualifier team :D !!!

He is great though, and a source of inspiration to our post calcipoli side. Really happy with tonight's result, I must say I expected it coming of the back of three wins and given Roma's poor record away from home, but it's still a welcome victory :)

0′- Tiago is playing. Hell has truly frozen over.

LMAO. No doubt! Two games in a row even! :P I thought he had a decent game though. Held his own in the center.

We were on fire today! Excellent win. More of that, please!! What I was most impressed with is how dramatically improved our passing was. It's amazing how much easier it is to build up a coherent attack if you're not constantly kicking the ball out, or to an empty patch of grass or to the other team. I also liked how we were up 2-0 and still parked in the Roma end. Once those early defensive lapses got under control, we never let Roma back into the game. Good stuff.

As for Roma's disintegration this game/season... just... wow. Never expected that. O_o
