Juventus Sign Custodian Marco Storari

In what should be made official Wednesday, as the finalisation and registration of the contract with the Lega Calcio are being processed, Juventus have acquired the services of custodian Marco Storari from Milan on a permanent basis to help provide a little more depth and quality to our goalkeeping rotation. With a statement released today on Juventus’ official website, the club announced Storari underwent the necessary medical tests early this morning where the 33 year-old passed with flying colours.

Storari represents a much needed option next season between the pipes as Chimenti turns 40 this June, and Manninger’s allure seems to fade more and more as games go by. By many accounts, Marco should be able to challenge Alex for that number two spot behind Gigi as he’s proved to be very capable with solid displays for Sampdoria and Milan this season.

Milan, who has secured the services of Marco Amelia for one year to replace Storari, was originally in talks with Sampdoria’s Gasparin earlier this month about a permanent stay for Storari. However talks broke down on account of a disagreement in the asking price. But now with the ex-Samp duo Marotta and Del Neri at Juventus, their impressions of Storari whilst playing for them last year were highly regarded enough to warrant a higher bid from the Bianconeri.

“I’m not scared at having to replace Buffon. I have already performed this role for Christian Abbiati, Nelson Dida and Zeljko Kalac at Milan. I started a season as the fourth choice goalkeeper and ended up being first pick. I will do my work with a relaxed attitude. I am very happy to be at Juve. It’s a great honour to play for this team and we can challenge for major objectives,” said Storari. “I accepted Juve’s proposal because this is a big club and signed me by spending a pretty penny. That’s very satisfying to know. It’s also true that the presence of former Sampdoria men Gigi Del Neri and Beppe Marotta was decisive in my choice.”

According to reports, we’ve signed the goalkeeper from Pisa on a three-year contract with the salary somewhere just over the €1 million mark per season. In terms of the transfer fee between the two clubs, not much is know at the moment aside from Storari’s “pretty penny” comment, but stay tuned for more details that will be updated in the comments section below. [Update] Thanks to Daniel for posting this in the comments section below. It’s been revealed that Juventus has agreed to a €4.5 million transfer fee for Storari to be paid in three installments over the next three years.

IERI… OGGI… DOMANI… SEMPRE JUVE!!!

  • I think people are being too harsh on Lippi. He made mistakes, but it wasn't all his fault. We all saw what the team were capable of when they actually tried in the last 20 min against Slovakia. If they played like that the whole time then they'd still be in it. And De Rossi was absolute crap. You can hardly blame Lippi for that since everyone considered De Rossi a starter, including me. So cut Lippi some slack. It clearly wasn't all his fault. The defense was the real problem this tournament and Italy just doesn't have the quality at the moment. Maybe in a few more years.
  • Isn't Milan moving forward, rossonero? I thought you guys were going after Luis Fabiano.

if this is true i'm really envious of you guys, although i think diego wasn't a complete flop. but at least you're moving forward...
  • Forza Juve
ok I STRONGLY disagree with that... Italy were a mess in defense (look at the 3rd goal, u just can't let that happen at a WC) England r at least solid in defense, just a bit rusty in attack... Italy lacked creativity, urgency, and pace and in the 1st 2 games produced very few chances... England were poor against Algeria, unfortunate against USA, but solid (and somewhat wasteful) against Slovenia...
  • nico
    pablo. i feel the same
i think its because we won the last one. i would happily rather win, then flop terribly, than have two semi-finals in a row.
also, (for me at least) i dont actually think italy played that bad. de rossi, montolivo were great in the 1st two games. and pirlo and quags were awesome today in their few minutes on the pitch. also gigi and pirlo being injured were HUGE blows.
tbh, i think we played a lot better than england, but were very unlucky.
  • Pablo
I'm not sure why, but I don't feel that bad after Italy's elimination from the world cup (and I was an azzurri fan before a Juve fan). Maybe it's because Juve already showed me what truly pain is, maybe because we won the previous world up and I've learned you can't always win, maybe because it was not completely a surprise... ok, it was a surprise to end up last in one of the easiest groups in the world cup, but seriously, did any of us really thought that having no creativity and a poor defense (aka cannavaro) was the recipe for anything but massive failure?
  • Brian
Anyone else get the e-mail from Juve's store about customized jerseys? Wrong time, wrong place after watching ItalJuve get demolished the last week or so, methinks. Give it a few days, guys, and then badger me to buy a customized shirt.

The fortunes of La Nazionale and Juve are inter twined. The FIGC shoulda realized that. Well, up next, it's Prandelli. All the best to him. Goodbye Canna nd Lippi. Rather sad it had to end like this for Lippi. Whatever happens, he remains a legend.
  • Godson Hernandez

  • Iaquinta isn't rubbish. He has just been out of form since October, when he got injured. It was a mistake for Lippi to take him and play him when he still has not gotten back into form.
  • Forza Juve
Interesting how u still have something against Del Piero, Juve 1897...
  • Comrade
Now to the FIGC…all them can go Fuck themselves, now they’ll know…NO Juve No Italy.

    1934 Champions - Juventus
1938 Champions - Ambrosiana Inter (They used to field Italians then)
    1982 Champions - Juventus
    2006 Champions - Well, Juventus
  • Juve 1897
For months I have being saying Amauri and Iaquinta are rubbish players leading our frontline and the latter prove me right. Just like Italy prove me right Juventus will do the same next season if Amauri, Iaquinta and Del Piero is leading our lines. Amauri & Iaquinta are rubbish and Del Piero is a legend who is now over the hill and is holding on to past glory.

Marotta and Del Neri better take notes, Amauri, Iaquinta, Camo, Del Piero, Canna (thank God he's gone), Legro, Grygera, Grosso, Zebina all have gots to GO!

Now to the FIGC...all them can go Fuck themselves, now they'll know...NO Juve No Italy.
  • Jose
So we get Bonnucci, we give Criscito away, Almiron and 3 to 4m. I am still disappointed to see Criscito go, he is a Juventino and would have been great as our left back. If this is indeed true I hope we get Kolarov for left defense, I don't know of anyone else that can be a descent left back besides him now that Criscito is gone.

All in all, we get rid of Almiron (dead weight) and Criscito who wasn't on our payroll anyway and we get a good defender by only spending 3m to 4m at the end of the day. Hopefully there is money left for Kolarov and Cassani. So far I have noticed Marotta working on a very tight budget but getting descent players.
  • Gaetano
After IAuquintas season, why was he played over quags or pazzini. Fucking disgraceful. Lthank god we didn t get him back at juve. What a pigheaded man! Chiellini had a good game up until he misjudged the second goal. Thank goodness cannamerda is out!

Looking forward to next season. I pray that we will be back. Hope moratta gets rid of the trash at juve.
  • HolyMann
with all my respect to lippi and all the love i had for this man, but he got his tactics horribly wrong in nearly every single WC game in South Africa....im still in shock and disgust.....after such a difficult season i was hoping to see something that would make me forget, instead, im having flash backs and remembering every single defeat....
  • Daniel
Why would we want a ItalJuve after a performance like that? Ridiculous.
  • ned lowe
shame how it panned out for italy, but like i said elsewhere, italy's footballing fortunes have taken a dip because italy's biggest clubs fortunes have also taken a dip .... juventus were not the only victims of the calciopoli, italy suffered as well bcuz juve & milan that traditionally serve as nurseries for the azzuri have been stuck in rut

but i think the future is bright ...prandelli with italy, del neri with juve , ranieri with roma and allegri with milan (?) will build a new face for the italian game...

enjoy what's left of ur break folks n c u at vinovo soon
  • Juve 1897
    Great piece by Carlo Garganese!

Lippi not only disgrace Italy but he also disgrace Juventus' name once again by picking some Juve players he did not deserve to be their.
