Juventus Offside Fantasy: Scoring & Rules
By: roberto | August 19th, 2009Welcome to the insanely time consuming world of fantasy sports. Inspired by Lorenzo’s fantasy group for the Palermo Offside, alessio and I would like to invite all our bianconero tifosi to join in on some good ol’ fashioned Serie A fantasy sports fun. If anyone has any doubts as to whether or not they can keep up with the pack for 38 weeks, don’t worry about it. This is in the end just for fun. However, I think I can say with some confidence that a few of us will get pummelled by those seasoned fantasy sport enthusiasts who know what takes to win. So if you’re up to the challenge, prepare yourself as we travel deeper then ever before into the realm of computer geek-dom.
Nothing anti-anything:
Now before I go any further let’s get one thing straight, this group is open to all… Juventus supporters or not. However my first of two rules is that you have respect for what we’re trying to do here so any member who’s team name is even remotely anti-Juve, or anti-anything, will be deleted faster than Criscito being loaned out to Genoa. I’m the commish’ of this group so believe me there will be a zero tolerance policy in place for that shit. I’m stern but fair, moving on.
Deadline for entries:
All parties that want to participate must sign in, join the group, and pick your team before the August 22nd deadline. To get started you have to set-up a Yahoo email account (if you don’t have one already) before you can join our (or any) fantasy sports group on Yahoo Fantasy Sports. Now after the mark on August 22, I plan on closing the window to join our group for good so new entries won’t get the chance to participate once the season has already begun. Consider yourself forewarned.
Aside from those two rules to keep in mind, go crazy. So far we’ve got 25+ teams signed up and until the August 22 deadline the sky’s the limit as far as I’m concerned. The winner will get a free lifetime subscription to alessio’s bi-annual trance cd compilations. All aboard? Good. Go here to get started, then enter these nuggets of information:

How this fantasy sport works:
Welcome to Yahoo! Eurosport’s Fantasy Football game. Scoring is based on the outcome of real football matches and the performances of real players. Points are attributed as per the table below. Take note that in some cases, players score differently depending on position.
Managers have 100 million to spend on 11 players. There are no restrictions on the number of players that can be selected from any one club. Managers can make as many changes as they like per week but a final team must be submitted by the time stated in the Season’s Timeline module on the signed-in version of your Fantasy Football home page. No points will be scored if the team submitted has fewer than 11 players. Changes to a team will not be saved unless Managers press the “Save Team Changes” button on the right of the “Team Manager” page..
Player values can increase and decrease based on performance but managers can only ever sell them at their purchase price. Your changes will not be activated until you press the ‘Save Team Changes’ button.

i just joined as fantasy n00b (i AM a newbie in this) for the same reason as Vince’s (plus i think i could get some fun while waiting for the latest FM release. Anybody knows when btw?).
After exploring a bit, i found that the game (me, actually) has interpreted that one of our mercato could turn out to be a big fat flop/overpricing. i’m talking about D’Ago (16.47,343pts) vs Melo (3.52,46pts). please cut me some slack if i already read into this too much..Posted from

It’s cute you guys got your own thing going on, but just a reminder that there is an open league of a bunch of people from all the offside pages (you can join multiple groups):

Im all in, I also have a epl fantasy team going on with yahoo as well…but has anyone noticed a massive discrepancy in prices for the good players in serie a as opposed to the prem. for example adp is a solid 25 (one fourth of your total budget) and although I’m glad their giving our man his true value, I think its all a bit inflated at the top end. Stevie G is 21 and Torres is 17.5. Anyone else notice this as well?

Wait, can you enter multiple leagues with the same team?

Guys, guys!!! I’ve got great news!!!
From uefa.com:
“Newly promoted Serie A side AS Bari have signed Argentinian midfielder Sergio Bernardo Almirón on a season-long loan from Juventus. The 28-year-old, who joined Juventus from Empoli FC in 2007, played just eleven games for the Bianconeri before loan spells with AS Monaco FC and, last term, at ACF Fiorentina.”
Well crack a bottle and let your body woddle! Almiron is off! Woo hoo! Now let’s just hope he impresses so that Bari sign him outright!

Just heard Melo gonna be out of the opening game of the season. Does this mean Poulsen will be playing?

According to Gazzetta (which they usually change the lineups right before the match) they got the following up:
Buffon
Gry – Cann – Chi – Molinaro
Camo – Marchisio – Brazzo
Diego
Amauri – Del PieroPosted from

Can anyone tell me what happend with lanzafame. is he still at juve or not ?????????

He’s on loan at Parma, idze. He’s co-owned by us and Palermo.

Yeah i hope something comes outta that kid.

He’s talented but last year was a year to forget. Tuttosport linking us for a future move for Ranocchia, owned by Genoa on loan at Bari where he was last year. I’d love that move, he was one of Serie B’s best CBs last season and is quite young.
Melo Melo Melo…out of this round because of a red card in the end of the season, after being banned for a month+ for getting in a fight with a Cagliari player. With Sissoko out for a while, we sure could have used Zanetti.

i still cant believe we are that dim witted to get rid of Zanetti, he could pass, tacklee and had great vision and fro bloody 2 mil, what a bargain it is for Fiorentina!

Ik Ale and Roberto will probably make a preview post to the match against Chievo but either way these are the callups according to CM:
1 Buffon,3 Chiellini,5 Cannavaro,7 Salihamidzic,8 Marchisio,9 Iaquinta,10 Del Piero,11 Amauri,13 Manninger,16 Camoranesi,17 Trezeguet,18 Poulsen,19 Molinaro,21 Grygera,23 Ariaudo,28 Diego,29 De Ceglie,30 Tiago,33 Legrottaglie,39 Marrone
In the next week or so, Ariaudo will move to Cagliari on loan. Hopefully the guy does well and grows some more and then he can have an important role as part of our D next year.Posted from
