Caption This! (You ask, you get it!)

By: agiamba | August 2nd, 2009

Per suggestion of Weston, we will now be doing a caption this contest following the Offside pages of Athletic Bilbao, Barcelona, ManYoo, and whoever else is now doing it. Put in your caption for each photo and the winner will be announced at the end of the week.

Speaking of Amauri…look at his arm in this picture.

#3. Ooops, I jumped too high again!! now I know that I could score a goal using.. MY EYE!!

    #1:
Raul: Thought you could run away before i give you your last spanking
Cannavaro: hehehe, i knew you'd find me

    #2:
OOHHH shittt, i forgot to take the pasta out of the oven
  • Nnahoj
    My lame attempt:

Pic #1: Smack talk between Raul and Cannavaro
Raul: My God, you are old.
    Canna: Yeah? We'll you're...you're...losing.

    I said it was lame...
  • thanks alessio. i'll come back later and post my captions, right now im too damn tired to think of anything funny, lol.
  • agiamba
I've got nothing wrong with Diego, for the reasons Nnahoj said. I do have something with Melo.
  • So I called my father from cottage country on Sunday to hear about how we did against Aston Villa... When I got home today and as I was watching the footage, I was still in such a state of disbelief. Even though my dad told me what happened a day earlier in great detail, I couldn't rid the feeling, while watching the pk's, that Alex wouldn't miss, couldn't miss, and didn't know how to miss.
  • Nnahoj
It's a long season, players will get injured, lose form, regain form etc. It's imperative that we have quality in depth if we are going to be challenging on all fronts for the long haul.
  • Nnahoj
I find it ridiculous that anyone would question Juventus pursuing a player like Diego. After a few years of signing players like Almiron and Poulsen and the numerous complaints those brought on, we have finally signed a truly class player - and a type of player that we desperately needed - and yet still the complaints continue. Yes, we have Giovinco, so what? What's wrong with having two class players in the same position? What is wrong with having quality in depth? That is all that management is trying to do with the signings they have made.
  • Marco
I think we could have spend the money on Wesley Sneijder brought in a finess player to player who we could command less than the 18 mil his appraised at to play along side Sissoko and we,

We could have kept Poulson (who with another year and some continuity) can be a beast. We woud utilize him to play as second fiddle.

I dont mind Melo - he was defintely over-valued just look at the market, but he is still young enough to re-pay Juventus in the future. He brings a personality toughness to Juve. A young swagger, so combine that his decent passing, his aggressive shot taking, and his defensive first toughness he'll be ok! The fans just need to be patient and let him acclimate. We cant pull out the guillotine to fast - we should be patient and enjoy growing with this team. The victories are inevitable.

Ps. Del Piero penalty made me throw up in my mouth!
  • Giro
Amauri looks in great shape. wouldnt be surprised if he was this season best hitman.
  • agiamba
No offense taken by anyone discussing the Peace cup final, this blog is about any and all things Juventini. Thanks for your comments, especially the first one I like hant00. :)

Jots I like it. The 3rd one wasn't really meant to be captioned, just show how freaky Amauri's arm looked. I saw it and trembled a little bit.
  • alex
with that 40m you could of had d'agostino, de silvestri, grosso and santacroce. and you would of had some spare change for a couple of young studs!
  • jots
#2....."So easy a caveman can do it" haha
  • HolyMann
took the words right out of my mouth Alex
  • alex
the point im making is why has he spent 40m+ for two players you didnt really need that could in turn damage the progress of two future internationals that are juventini through and through??

diego is a year older than giovinco and marchisio is a better player than melo. melo was good last year hes definitely not world class

marchisio and giovinco are both local lads if i was a juve fan i would be furious about either of them not getting playing time, especially for a couple of brazilians
  • lev lucien
season hasn't even started and already Melo is an "epic fail"...lol

alex...you ever get tired of bashing Secco for replacing young Italians with more skilled foreigners? Diego is world class while Seba might be one day. Melo was world class last season while Marchisio might be one day.

I don't get how any rational Juventini can't at least be somewhat happy that we managed to increase overall skill so much.
  • hant00
alessio, i feel for you. after all your efforts to pick some interesting pics to be captioned, we just flooded the comments by babbling on something else. i mean come on guys, save the debates for when the season gets into business. we've all learned our lessons (hopefully): Melo needs to step up more to the expectation, Alex should never attempt something clumsy ever again, everyone should hone their pk skill, Ferrara should never consider fielding 4 strikers all at once without provider ever again, and so on, and so on...

(wow, almost sucked into hypocrisy there. sorry)

just go see the original Caption This on bilbao offside where the readers respect the blogger with their efforts. Anyway, here's mine:
#1: wanna swap shorts after the match? nah, it's disgusting. you seem going commando there.
#2: AAARRGH!! THAT'S IT, I'M GOING BALD THIS SEASON!
#3: No Lass, your hands' pose is wrong again, here's how.. OUCH!! NOW MY HAIR'S PIERCING MY EYE!
(phew, captioning Amauri's was really difficult!)

lastly, i'm sorry if my post offends you. peace..
  • alex
epic fail buying melo instead of d'agostino for more money as well. still think secco has no clue what hes doing, as good as diego is you already had giovinco that money should have gone on a quality RB and a quality defender
  • The new guy need time to settle but I think we will do well next season
  • #1 Raul to Canna: Putting our defence under pressure, just like old times ay Canna.
Canna: Man these shorts are so much tighter all of a sudden.
  • HolyMann
and Melo hasnt impressed me either, not with the price that was paid for him
  • HolyMann
thats true, and even though that this game is a preseason game, i was expecting to see some more creativity and passing, we're still playing quite alot of long balls that go to waste....considering we were playing with Melo, camo, marchisio and Giovinco, all are capable of passing and dribbling, the ball kept going wide to the fullbacks and that ended up with alot of long balls.....i was expecting to see more passes and chances down the middle instead
  • adam
But it is still just a pre-season game, think of it as a glorified training match. Good thing is that the players got to play and no one got injured, that IMO is better than winning the damn cup.
  • adam
Iaquinta and Trezeguet wasted too many chances, though Trez looked like he somewhat gave a shit as opposed to the last game he played.
  • HolyMann
i dont know if it's just me, but im quite disappointed with the teams display in the Peace cup final....especially the strikers
