Candreva joins Juventus

Juventus and Udinese have reached an agreement for the loan of Antonio Candreva until the end of the season with an option to buy half the contract. (Rumored for around 7.5million euro) The contract will be deposited with Lega on Thursday morning.

The midfielder will join the team as from the next training session, on schedule for Thursday afternoon at 15:00hrs.

Antonio Candreva was born on the 23rd February 1987. He began his career as a professional footballer in 2004 in the Serie B with Ternana. After 3 seasons with the rossoverdi he signed for Udinese in 2007. On the 27 January 2008, at 20 years of age, he made his debut in the Serie A during Udinese-Inter (0-0). During the 2008/09 season he was loaned to Livorno in the Serie B, were he was fielded in the starting line-up and contributed to the promotion to the Serie A of the amaranto. The loan was confirmed even for the following season.

Candreva also formed part of the many national team categories starting from the Under 18 team up to the Olympic team with which he made his debut in May 2008 during the Tolone Tournament . He was called-up by Casiraghi to take part in the Beijing Olympics where he made his debut in the second group match coming on for injured Tommaso Rocchi. In 2009 he was part of the list of the 23 players called-up for the Under21 European Cup in Sweden and on the 14th of November of the same year, at 22 years of age, made his debut in the senior national team with Italy coach Lippi, playing in the starting line-up during the friendly match between Italy and Holland (0-0) played in Pescara.

Good transfer? Mediocre one? What do you think?

One thought remains- Pulling Candreva from Livorno, we had to convince Livorno to let him go, but also convince Udinese that he would do well at Juventus. I don’t get why they are so willing to loan us a crown jewel, yet fought us tooth and nail with the D’Agostino debacle this summer. Pozzo must love Gaetano.

The Center for Media Research has released a study by Vertical Response that shows just where many of these ‘Main Street’ players are going with their online dollars. The big winners: e-mail and social media. With only 3.8% of small business folks NOT planning on using e-mail marketing and with social media carrying the perception of being free (which they so rudely discover it is far from free) this should make some in the banner and search crowd a little wary.

  • Candreva has definitely been Livorno's best player. The only reason he's been benched is because he had some sort of falling out with the coach.
  • ricci
my understanding is that Candreva was benched at Livorno b/c he was hoping for a move to Juve and the manager wanted to only count on the players he would have in the future fixtures. He has been their BEST player this season without a doubt.
  • The coppa match is on the 28th...I don't know why, but some sites were saying it's today

  • Two great news stories today
-Rumors Mancini wants Amauri at Man City (DO IT)
-Cagliari's president said Juve had promised him Zebina at West Ham, had he signed it.
    That, my friends
    a. Means the management realizes what a useless turd he is
    b. May be looking to offload him

mo the answer to your question is actually quite simple, it is a very similar injury but both Buffon and Barchisio had a very small amount of damage that was noticed immediatly and could be fixed with a very minor surgical procedure and with a month or so of physical therapy. What happened to Iaquinta was that he almost completely tore his meniscus, one of the layers of cartilage between the bones in your knee his injury was so severe that the surgery requires a significant amount of physical therapy to fix it. In addition to that the physical therapy has to be extended to strengthen the muscles in the knee to prevent the same injury from reoccurring immediately.

i really enjoyed that nickname oobia....7umar is a perfect way to describe how amauri has been acting and playing!
  • Gaetano
Yes! Football italia and goal.com are both reporting that amauri may be leaving. I hope these rumours are true. Funny though, i think he will do well elsewhere. Obviously its not working at juventus so he should definitely go. Maybe there is still time for him to get in lippi's good books. LOL. Lets hope its sooner rather than later.

just read that nedved, davids, and zidane are going to play in a charity match to raise funds for earthquake relief in Hati. a nice gesture. maybe someone can talk them in to playing a few matches for juve, you know while they have the their boots on and all...at least until we secure a champs league spot...

what i want to know is when the fuck is Iaquinta returning? buffon and marchisio had similar injuries but returned before him...whats up with thay?

Sammy: I don't have to preach anything to you(not that you would understand it anyways). You can be in denial if you would like but last time I checked 29(27 if you want)>17. Feel free to mention Moggi, Giraudo, Tombolini and whoever you'd like. I don't think any Juventino here gives a fuck. Also, those little flags are always fucked up, but if you're really from Australia, then I would like to quote Jules from Pulp Fiction:
"English motherfucker, do you speak it?"
  • marco
maybe we shouldn't expect too much from Candreva? http://football-italia.net/blo...
  • why are we talking about refs all of a sudden?
oh yeah, the only way sfincter can win is by tapping phones and using government contacts to push through the shakiest piece of conviction in the Italian judicial history. If you cant beat em on the pitch, you would rather not play them eh.
Enjoy your paper scudetti while they last kiddo, daddy is coming soon
  • sammy
jezz jorid .. talk of insecurities, what my Q is really about is where di Giovinco go after juve sign candreva? .i mean he's not play even before juve buy candreva, does juve just throw him away? some feet that is consider you the lecture you just gave me.

ps: in your reply plz spare me another one of your preach, since im not takin anything from any delusional folks who cant even see the connection of their club success with and without the refs on their side. peace haha
  • ooBia
Alastar (and everyone here) isn't Iaquinta returning from injury? i'd rather have Iaquinta and Paolucci as our striking power, or Iaquinta and a pepsi can. bottom line, no Amauri.

my brother nailed this nickname fore Amauri (7umauri: 7umar is donkey in arabic)
  • Justin
I have no idea what Candreva can do. I haven't been watching his games but I like this signing because he's young and promising (as you guys say). Plus, he seems (again, according to you guys) creative enough to add something to attack.

The best thing about it is that it's just a loan. It's not a trigger-happy spending done haphazardly. It's an effort of the management to try to do something to our problematic midfield. Is this an Bettega influenced transfer? I don't know but seems like the moment he got here, he got rid of our dead weights and finally signed someone sensibly.
  • Alastair
    Jacob, I imagine:

    Buffon
    Grygera, Cannavaro, Chiellini, Grosso
Sissoko (returning from African Nations), Marchisio, Candreva, Paolo De Ceglie
    Diego
    Amauri (returning from suspension)

Melo is suspended, and we're still suffering a large number of injuries.
  • j
never watch candreva played before, hope things turn out alright, i'm not pinning too much hopes though, it's better not to wish, after tiago, melo, etc, etc, etc
  • Jacob (FORZA ROMA)
Just wondering if anyone can give me an indication of what Juv's line-up maybe this weekend????
  • Alastair
I like the 4-3-2-1 the most, and not just because it's what works for me in Football Manager 2010 (although it works there because Amauri can actually score goals in that game), but because you can have two creative players (two from Diego/Gio/ADP) playing just behind the target man, without being overly reliant on any one of them.

    Buffon

    Caceres-Legro-Chiellini-PDC

    Sissoko-Marchisio-Candreva
(with Melo and Poulsen available, depending on who's in form)

    Diego-Giovinco

    Iaquinta
(with Trezeguet, Amauri, Paolucci, Immobile, etc. available, depending on who's in form)

I've never seen Candreva play too. I feel good after reading all your comments. I just hope this signing was not as a short-term fix but with plans for the future. Having said that, we need to find our formation right, finding a starting place for diego, giovinco, marchisio, candreva & possibly PDC. PDC can only fit in the LB role but I dont remember a single occasion he has been used as a LB this season, not even as sub. Which suggests Ciro sees him as a midfielder than a LB, which makes it hard to find a starting place for him in our midfield. Otherwise, I agree with all of you who suggest the marchsio-momo/melo-candreva midfield trio. Hence Gio & Diego should play alongside & behind a lone striker. ADP can rotate/sub with Gio, only playing a bit further up as a SS. With this, I guess we'll have a good team which shouldnt miss out on CL spot and a good squad to cover for all the positions (except defense!). In summer, we can focus on signing a world-class CB & LB. That, along with bringing back Auriado & not-extending cannavaro's contract (legro can still have a bench role) should be fix our defense pretty much. Of course, we need to sell Zebina, Amuari & Poulsen and buy a decent striker.
  • ooBia
thanks Marco D. very nice :)

i've never seen Candreva play, but from what everyone is saying here i'm excited.
  • mohd
I wish him all the best but that mean no place for giovinco now
  • Al
Brian, 11 from 10, he's already brilliant why sould he become "the shit"?
  • Comrade
Marco D, nice wallpaper. Can you make a high-res for me? 1920x1080 :)
  • Brian
How good is Giovinco? Straight up 1 to 10 rating. I don't follow Juve, but he's supposed to be the shit, right?
  • agiamba
    Excellent, Marco D.
  • Giovinco - Marchisio - Chiellini - Diego
IMO they are the future heart of the Bianconeri - once the old guard (except Gigi) leaves. We already have the core of a very successful team - lets get the riffraff (I am talking to you Amauri, Cannavaro and Grosso) out and bring some stallions in. Hopefully the process has started with Candreva and will continue with the arrival of Criscito, Bonucci, Rossi, Pazzini et al
  • bianconeri
Nice wallpaper Marco, I just have one request though, could you make it a little bigger cause i have to stretch it for it to fit my screen. Props buddy.
  • Zsedo
I like this transfer, but now I HAVE TO SEE GIOVINCO PLAY! If we bring a young talent on a transfer and play him then why doesn't ours get to see it?
  • Jorid
I like it Marco D. It's simple, but sweet.
