Can We Get Some Freaking Prozac Here?

By: agiamba | January 23rd, 2010

I feel like a banker the day after Bear Stearns died. Life is absolute shit, and it only looks like it’s getting worse. No matter what we do, no matter who plays, we cannot win a goddamn game and it is disgusting. I’ll warn you, I’m not censoring my words for this rambling rant of a post so if you have sensitive eyes…..you’ve been warned.

ITALY SOCCER SERIE A

59376323

First, as everyone in the peninsula sits and laughs as Juve crumbles, I say fuck them, just as I did when we went out of the Champion’s League and just as I said when we were relegated to Serie B. Juve has done more for Calcio and more for the Italian national team than any of those teams (perhaps Milan excluded) can claim to. I wish I was a director at Juve, not only would I be kicking some serious ass upstairs, but I would henceforth ban all Juventus players from playing for the Nazionale. If Juve is shit, you don’t deserve to go, and the Azzurri doesn’t deserve you either. I’m sure the entire non-Juve population in Italy grinned when Buffon was sent off, well hey fuck you, you don’t deserve Buffon in Azzurro either. Enough said. Let’s see the Azzurri compete without Buffon, Chiellini, Marchisio, Iaquinta, Grosso, Legrottaglie, or Cannavaro. You think Italy is bad now…

LE PAGELLE:
Buffon: 4.5- I know a lot of you might be mad at me for criticizing him, but that was a Casillas-style, dumb thing to do. If your team is struggling bad, it’s a dumbass decision to come flying out unless you know you’re going to get the ball. He would have been better off coming to the edge of his box and forcing Riise to take a shot, IMO. Obviously, he was trying to save a goal but not surprisingly, we conceded one anyways. A rare error in judgement.

Grygera: 6- Our best defender of the day. Defended relatively well and put in a couple nice crosses that not surprisingly, no one in the box was able to catch onto. Contained well and offered something up front. Refreshing.
Legrottaglie: 5- Legrottaglie and Chiellini’s ratings are the same. For the whole game, they were relatively defensively solid and Roma didn’t manage to get very many clear-cut chances or take any shots. Both made a colossal error in being completely caught off-guard for Riise when he charged through and was taken down Buffon, and for that they both get one point off.
Chiellini: 5- Same as above, and his poor clearance led to the first penalty. A rare miss performance.
Grosso: 4.5- Needs to sit on the bench. Offensively, he produces something but it’s never a good final ball, and defensively he still leaves giant gaps. Oh, and there’s that whole penalty incident. Grosso likes to back up sideways and then stab with his leg, and it didn’t go well. Taddei made a hash of it, of course, but there was obviously contact and was no doubt a penalty.

Marchisio: 5.5- Mediocre game tonight, as he had a few chances up top and defended decently. With Sissoko and Salihamidzic, he controlled the midfield for the first half of the game but in the 2nd, lost the battle.
Sissoko: 7- Full of energy, he was endlessly running across the pitch recovering balls, causing pressure, and overall, having a good game. His passing is still garbage, but you know what, at least when he’s out there playing, it looks like he gives a damn.
Salihamidzic: 5.5- Not the best attacking display, but for much of the first half Brazzo held his own in midfield, doing well to recover balls and chase down opponents. Like Marchisio, he went missing in the 2nd half.

Diego: 7- Tried and tried, but it’s hard when there’s no one up top to service. In general, his set piece delivery was excellent though a few corners failed to beat his first man, and looked lively and determined all match. Should have won a penalty on Cassetti who completely missed the ball in a tackle in the box, but like many of the 50-50 decisions tonight, the ref went Roma’s way, perhaps he had a new nice Rolex. I don’t know why people are criticizing him so much, you could have Zidane in his prime at trequartista, but as long as we have a useless sack of shit like Amauri playing prima punta, you’re not going to be that successful. Diego can’t do everything himself.

Del Piero: 6.5- Looked very determined, tried his hardest, and attempted to drag his teammates to victory but it wasn’t enough. Scored an absolute brilliant goal to open the game…while Totti scored a pretty average penalty. Just saying.
Amauri: 1- I am so sick of seeing him be completely useless and bitch about everything that I was considering giving him a 0, but I’ll give him a 1 for actually connecting on a header or two. Like I’ve said for the last two months- Send him to the goddamn Primavera. Paolucci should have started, he might not be a world-class striker but at least he makes runs or something.

ITALY SOCCER SERIE A

Takeaway points from this game:
-Amauri sucks.
-Grosso sucks.
-Paolucci and De Ceglie can’t be much worse, can they?
-See what a regista can do for a team? (Ie- Pizarro)
-Classic Claudio Ranieri, not making one sub. (other than the forced one, of course)
-Poor Spalletti. The first Juve game after his Roma tenure ends is the first time they win one since before he got the job.
-Congrats to Ranieri on getting some revenge. I liked the guy, and he’s doing great work in Rome, and he’s really eliminated all the Spalletti flaws.
-Did we deserve to lose today? No. Did we deserve to win? No. 1-1 probably would have been a fair result, but that’s calcio.
-How much lower can we go? (Do we want to hear the answer?)
-As of tomorrow…we could be as low as 8th place. Genoa, who everyone says is having a poor season, is only 5 points behind us, with a game in hand.
-Juventus.com’s homepage- “Luck beats determination.” Indeed.

Ferrara: «We deserved better»

Ciro Ferrara is forced to comment another defeat, which compared to the previous ones showed something different. The Juventus coach in fact commented in this manner: «For what the boys showed on the field, will, determination and temperament, we deserved better».

Unfortunately this was not the case. Asked whether he is sorry with regards to the mistakes by individuals which saw Roma win on a comeback, Ferrara answered: «Apart from the value of the players, when the moment is a difficult one, it is normal that one makes mistakes». He added: «When Buffon was sent-off we weren’t well placed for instance».

After the match, the team remained in the dressing rooms with the coach: «I tried to say a few words to the team in this delicate moment, to evaluate the situation, but nothing more – he stated -. It is a very delicate moment, useless hiding that, a period during which sometimes we deserved to lose, others not, the pity is that we are lagging behind in the table».

Ferrara, however, tried to look at the future, confiding in the team: «This group has strength, character and personality to overcome this moment. It showed this even tonight. They must be strong men and they are».

All he’s missing is Trezeguet by his side…

I was at a couple Ducks-Canucks playoff games that year (Fuck Corey Perry), that team was pretty awesome. They deserved the Cup for sure

As far as Juve goes, Im pretty sure they all care (with a few exceptions) They may not be as gutted as a majority of their fans, but they care. For the sake of Italian football, hopefully they turn it around soon
  • Vince
yes we are. And just like Juve we are in a slight rebuilding time and with high expectations but we went all to hell. Lately they have shown a glimmer of hope like a lover cheated on I am skeptical. 2007 was amazing, I was there for every playoff game, being there when you team wins it all is the best feeling in the world. I embraced people that i never saw before that game. But my one true love is Juve and the pain lately has turn to numbness and indifference, and that is the worst part. Love or hate my team i love the strong feelings and lately I hear friends say "heard juve dropped another" and I just shrug. The passion for this season is lost and I'm just a spectator, I cant imagine how the players feel. Maybe they still have the fire, but on the wages they have do many modern footballers really, really care? In the end, they still play a childrens game and more than make ends meet. I hope it is not this way but in times like these i grow all too skeptical
  • Bari Mike
Well Marco, we got er done again. The Sedins are out of this world. Juve could use them.

Vince, the Ducks are shyte this year. But don't forget 2007, you guys got your Cup. We've been waiting 40 years up here in Van
  • Vince
what a hockey conversation broke out?! well i gotta get my two cents in!!!! between being Juventini and a Anaheim Ducks season ticket holder I have had my share of tears and heartbreak this year and.... sigh... let's not talk about hockey either
  • bianconeri
The last thing we need is more injuries Comrade.

adam, maybe his wife can straighten out our under-performers with her belt :P

Here, here, Bari Mike. I'm a fellow Canucks fan as well but I think we are in pretty tough tonight after that cake walk against the Blackhawks on Sat. night. The Sabres are a bit of a dark horse in the NHL and are quietly having a really good season, overshadowed by the Penguins and Capitals hype out east. The Sabres were pretty dominant against the Sharks the other night despite them losing.

Hopefully that player is Lavezzi and we get him.

jorid 97 punti so you can suck my balls
  • Armando
Yea i watched the Zidane Match. Davids and Nedved were playing too, great to see them playing and i have to say that i think Nedved could still cut it for Juve, though he wouldnt be able to start every game. A good super sub though he would still be in my opinion.
  • bianconeri
anyone watch the zidane match? it was on FSC.
  • Jorid
^^^Razza di Villanzoni. Teste di Cazzo! 91 punti...
  • The Troll
yeah dont bring in robinho, that fucking idiot should have gone to chelsea, I mean hate to say I told you so but yeah robinho I fucking did!!! Hes making the same mistake as adebayor who will just leave after next season as well, robinho should have either stayed at real madrid for one more year so that he could become a truly great player and then move after kaka and ronaldo show up, there was no way he was going to stay there forever same with ade. Your midfield on paper shouldnt be having any problems but I guess you can throw the paper out the window as melo sucks complete ass, you still have candreva though, your defense needs to be completely revamped thats all I'll say, and apparently Sir Alex of Man U wants chiellini as he now is getting fed up with vidic who could move to barcelona at the end of this season, I dont see that happening as long as Pique and Puyol remain at Barca though
  • Aldo
i promise that my second post ever will not be this dumb first one but i really need to say: we need to get back to the the black shorts n socks to fkin win early this season!!!
  • Bari Mike
    Alessio,

Im going to the Sabres-Canucks game tonight, and while I feel for you and the pain Juve is causing, hopefully my Canucks can add a little to your misery by smacking the Sabres all over the ice
  • I never thought I'd say this, but I miss Capello at the helm. And I hated his guts.

btw: I'm going to dub this season

The Season of "I never thought I'd say this"

because it's been one fkn impossibility after another.
  • Robee
Yes Neo77: Giovinco is recovering well, he will miss the games against Inter and Lazio, but might be back for the next game, although it's unlikely Ferrara (or another coach) will take a risk with him immediately against Livorno, which shouldn't be freaking necessary as well!

We're 4 points away from a CL spot, either we get a grip this weekend or we throw away every hope of winning something of importancy in the near future.
  • Armando
Well i think a few good things came out of that game.

-Amauri's confidence seems to be going up, as he at least connected on some headers and had a nice one on goal though it was saved.

-Del Piero and Diego on form are a wonder to watch, and i cant wait to put Iaquinta or Trezeguet next to ADP up front.

-Momo is back!! We sure missed him a whole lot.
  • Neo77
anyone knows when Giovinco is expected back?
  • Robee
It's just one of the signs of incompetence... The board is trying to retrieve footballing knowledge everywhere they can because they ain't got it themselves...

What we need now is a coach with balls, like Moggi indirectly stated about Wenger and our management... He'd make there job hard or easier, depends on the way you look at it... He has a very specific vision on what players he wants plus he could actually get the best out of of our stunning youth... As much as I hate them both, but Mourinho is doing the same over at inter; Moratti, the slapstick of transfers, is doing some good pieces of business right now with Eto'o, Pandev, Sneijder, etc...
  • j
everything is wrong with the club, from the medical staffs to the players to the board to the owners and its rivalry factions, we need a messiah now
  • Jose
I read everywhere people saying thank you Lippi for getting us Grosso and Cannavaro. We need to distance ourselves from Lippi. No good coach will come knowing that Lippi's shadow is behind him. It seems like we are choosing players to help Lippi with La Nazionale, and if I were him I would be very scared. One clear way to distance themselves from Lippi is to shuffle the management a little bit. I don't know if this will happen but that is something we need to start doing and soon.
  • tyo
    42nd injury??
Man, that's 9 more than our points in the standings. *sigh*
  • Robee
ned lowe: Even Poulsen is out... Fire the medical staff... Please ?
  • Alastair
Oh, and according to Football Italia, Marchisio's is the 42th injury we have suffered this season.

    What the fuck.
  • Alastair
    Yeah, bloodbath incoming.
  • j
inter must be rejoicing, they could set a high-scoring win that will remain unbroken for quite a while
  • HolyMann
Adam it really is fucking beautiful.....
  • ned lowe
@ robee:worrisome stuff, but not yet a tragedy; for marchisio, diego, ale and del piero i'd throw in candreva, poulsen, paolucci & immobile....

aaarghhh! u ARE right...looks like slaughter material!!

may d force b with us
  • Robee
This can not be true... Calciomercato is stating that MARCHISIO, yes, one of the players that actually performs could be out for 3 weeks with rectus femoris (quadriceps) problems...

Diego, De Ceglie, Del Piero and Amauri are in doubt for thursday's game against inter... Without Marchisio, Alex and Diego, it'll be a massive slaughter...
  • j
hey never say never, if arsenal continues their trophyless streak, the fans finally turn on him and he finally got fed up with them, he may choose to leave, although real madrid should be right ahead in acquiring his tactical acumen.

who's betting on ciro to remain after we lose against inter? 6 in 7 is too horrifying for juve. i hope he turn this around, but lady lucks seems to elude us now.

new comedy from goal dot com
In a very sad way :(
  • ooBia
Moggi makes me sick!! Not in the sense that i don't like him, on the contrary, what he's saying (which i agree with) is making me sick. Making me hate our management even more.

And as much as I would love to see Wenger at our beloved Juve it is not happening. He is Arsenal and Arsenal is him. And IF he comes he would cost a leg and two arms, maybe Amauri should step up and sacrifice his.. just saying.
  • bianconeri
hahaha HolyMann that will never happen, Blanc couldn't believe he got that position, him and Secco will probably hang on to their jobs as if their lives depended on them, which they do. No sane person would employ Secco for any type of position after the number he did on juve.

And nothing is going to change for a long time, the people up top don't care, the coach doesn't care, and half the team doesn't care. They're all on the same page, its fucking beautiful!
  • HolyMann
  • Ned, I agree, #2 is a HUGE if. Juve always save their best for Inter (or is it that Inter often fall apart against Juve?). Plus, Inter are rarely good twice in a row.

Oh, and the pitch will be a shambles - thank you FIGC. Milan is playing their rescheduled game against Udinese the night before. The grounds keepers have promised miracles, but even at the best of times, the pitch at the San Siro is not good. I just hope the terrible sod doesn't actually injure any of the players.
  • agiamba
Indeeeeeeeeeeeed alastair...it is very ironic that as my Saints have their best ever season, the team most known as the losers of the NFL, Juve is having their worst season in ages, worst since I've been a fan. And completely honest...Juve is my favorite team over the Saints or Sabres, I would trade the Saints in the Super Bowl for a competitive Juve in a second. :(
  • ned lowe
    1. no to robinho...great player with a piss-poor attitude...juventus has no room for prima donnas
    2. IF (emphasis added) inter beat us on thursday nite, it will not be by a huge margin...we r always fired up against them, and as bad as things are for us ATM i am not despondent or fearful ahead of thursday's game
    3. the derby was won mentally...milan did not play badly, but inter had a mental viciousness about them that all milan's trickery and technique could not subdue...hurts to say it, but the inter i saw last nite was us 5/6 years ago...yes we could play a good game, but our greatest strength was mental ...the grinta for which we became famous n with which we won laurels was the result of a mental fortitude that is alien to us these days...instead, we take 2 the pitch like a lover who's been hurt before n is afraid 2 get in the dating scene again...
    4. i hurt....i hurt deeply
  • Alastair
Well, Alessio, at least you have the Saints.
