As now we are discussing Ranieri, here is another angle:
“He was criticised for his poor tactical substitutions during the semi-finals of the Champions League against AS Monaco, when the team lost 3-1 in the away leg and despite leading by two goals in the home leg eventually drew 2-2 and went out 5-3 on aggregate”.
Same Ranieri, Old story, he is indeed poor in tactical substitution. Hope this would not happen in his tenure with Juve.

Ahead of Chelsea’s Champions League date with Italian giants Juventus on Wednesday, Frank Lampard has expressed his gratitude to Bianconeri manager Claudio Ranieri.

It was the ‘Tinkerman’ who sanctioned the €12.3 million (£11m) signing of the England international from West Ham United and the midfielder has said he might not have had half the career he has enjoyed to date if the Italian had not done so.

“It’ll be very special to see Claudio again, I love the man,” the Chelsea star is quoted as saying in The Guardian.

“If it wasn’t for Claudio I might not be where I am now. He brought me to the club, improved my game and showed me another side to the game.

“As a West Ham boy I didn’t know the continental style and the way to live my life. He brought me here and showed me those ways and I’ve got nothing but thanks for him for the way he helped my career.

“He made John Terry captain at a young age, signed [William] Gallas and bought Petr Cech. He took us to the Champions League semi-final and was a huge part of what we went on to achieve.

“No-one’s got a bad word to say about him around the place, which shows you what a good man he is. I’m very pleased at how well he’s done at Juventus.”
