Bidone d’Oro Nominations out: Does Rai Radio Due watch Serie A?

By: agiamba | November 17th, 2009

Every season this time of year, the hosts of Rai Radio 2 give out the Bidone d’Oro, or the “Golden Trashbin” to the worst flops of the past year. Nominations have come out, and either they hate Juventus, they hate our midfield, or they have it out for Tiago and Poulsen, both who were nominated in years past. List and commentary after the jump.

Juan Pablo Carrizo (Lazio)
Nelson Dida (Milan)
Felipe Melo (Fiorentina-Juventus)
Klaas Jan Huntelaar (Milan)
Julio Baptista (Roma)
Mancini (Inter)
Christian Poulsen (Juventus)
Ricardo Quaresma (Inter)
Ronaldinho (Milan)
Tiago (Juventus)

So Tiago makes his 3rd consecutive appearance, Poulsen his 2nd….and Melo? That’s where I just lost it.

Tiago and Poulsen probably shouldn’t be on there, as they aren’t world-beaters, but both have performed adequately this season. You could make your case for them to be on there, but even within our own squad you could pick a better duo- Zebina and Molinaro, anyone? A constantly injured old Frenchmen who has one good game in 10 and an Italian fullback who cannot cross, period? Definitely they take the cake for me. And Melo? I don’t even know where to start with how wrong that is. After Marchisio, he has been our best midfielder this campaign, no doubt, and I say that ahead of the likes of Diego and Camo.

Some of the other nominations are pretty dumb, too. Dida has saved Milan more than he has cost them this season, and Ronaldinho has actually seemed to give a damn again. For me, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar wins it. €15 million, and no goals in 9-10 games or so, and for the most part, he hasn’t looked like coming close to scoring. I’m not writing him off, he just clearly has a lot of adjusting to do from the free-scoring Liga and Eredivisie. Ricardo Quaresma is a close second, following in a long line of overpriced Inter failures. To think how much they paid for him, and Pele. Ha, what a flop. Huntelaar might come good, Quaresma definitely will not.

For me, here’s some other nominees: Kutuzov, Acquafresca, Rubinho, Bertolo, Emiliano Moretti, and Cristiano Lucarelli. Who would you nominate for the prestigious award?

Poulsen has actually played pretty well this season. He shouldn't be on this list. Tiago started well too before he got injured.
  • Sofia
i agree with this list, minus melo he hasn't been THAT bad. but tiago and poulsen MORE than deserve to be on this list. i hated them when they signed with us and i still hate them.

If Criscito really doesn't want to come back to Juve then it wouldn't be a bad idea at all to give Genoa the other half of his contract for Ranocchia. If we can get Ranocchia without doing that though, that would be even better.

I'd rather try to bring Criscito back and give Genoa co-ownership of Ariaudo if they insist on a part-player exchange. That way Ariaudo can get some good experience. I'd like to have a buy back option like Juve have with Lanzafame though.

Bocchetti and Bonucci are also very good options if Ranocchia doesn't work out. Bocchetti can play both CB and LB which is good if Criscito doesn't come back. And Bonucci can play CB, LB and RB. Not a bad option as well. All are owned by Genoa.
  • alex
so him and chiellini would be quite literally a brick wall??

is giovinco and marchisio fit yet? if you do sign ranocchia you would have a core of insane young italian talent for the next few years and the way your primavera is pumpng out talent the future is definitely bright for juve. and a new stadium to top it all off!
  • agiamba
Obviously Mascherano is a classy attacking midfielder, Nnahoj. Given that the Italy-Sweden game was a win for the Azzurri without controversy, the papers are really running out of material to print.

Alex, sort of Nesta, but Nesta plays with a lot of grace. Ranocchia is kind of a mix between him and a tall strong central defender, like Chiellini. He's strong in the air, but great at tackling too.
  • Robee
I'm roaring to see the game against Udinese. A win is a must, and in the coming weeks, we will really see if juve will be a true title contender. Inter-Fiorentina and Juventus-Fiorentina on the schedule in 3 weeks time. If we will be able to get 9 out of 9, we'll be back in the game!
  • Nnahoj
How the hell could Giovinco slip down the pecking order? And replaced by whom?

These stories are so misleading. None of them care to mention the fact that Giovinco missed the opening 2 games of the season due to injury and then was injured again sometime again. So 7 appearances in 10 or maybe less games is not at all bad.

But football-italia.net is trying to give goal.com a run for their money. Re: Giovinco's same "move" to Liverstool; "His lack of first team football has opened the door to a move by Reds’ boss Rafa Benitez who is looking for a replacement for Javier Mascherano who is reported to be leaving for Barcelona." Haha!!! How the hell is Giovinco a replacement for Mascherano??? Now that just shows absolutely no thought whatsoever!!!

only few hours after their bullshit giovinco rumour they announce he will not join liverpool,... in a SENSATIONAL EXCLUSIVE,...
haha lol overload² :-) this sensational plottwist realy blows me away haha

ned criscito is probably one of the best young left backs in europe, but he just doesnt seem that bothered about juve.

what sort of player is ranocchia alessio? ive heard all these wonderful things about him but ive never seen him play? his idol is nesta so has he based himself on alessandro?
  • j
i already stopped reading that site, it's full of nonsense, some of their articles are pretty good but most of it are thrash
  • georg
goal.com should get an golden bin award:

    http://www.goal.com/en/news/11...

specialy musing to read :"The diminutive hitman has only mustered six league appearances so far this term and has slipped further down the pecking order"

do goal.com reporters get payed? if so this must be the easiest job in the world. just let your imagination flow, and simply type down whatever you want,...dreamjob!
  • We need a CB as a priority, and I am hopeful that caceres will develop into a proper starting RB. It is too sad that PDC has not forced himself as the viable alternative to Grosso, so I think that we should go for a young LB after we get a solid CB. However getting the CB is absolutely essential to silverwire - we have good depth everywhere else on the pitch (except perhaps at LWF/LM).
  • j
the problem is he doesnt seem to want to come back, maybe because he has doubts about playing regularly?

if he plays left back, caceres right back, then we just need to buy 1 centre back, i dont mind buying in the january transfer window, any good russian, serbia exports?
  • ned lowe
a resounding no to coloccini...chiellini defo needs a partner,kjaer,ranocchia,zapata...good options but whoever it is, should be someone who has shown serious potential and can be looked upon to grow into the role of giorgio's partner for 4-5 years... i'd also say we tie up caceres' deal...he's looked decent at rightback n i hear he's even better at centreback....
criscito cannot be worse than molinaro/de ceglie...he was harshly judged on the back of one underwhelming performnace against a cunning totti...since then he's grown in leaps n bounds as a leftback/left wingback;if we r bringing him back, then it shuld in either of those positions and not as centreback

great the internationals are over! udinese next right,

i didnt see any of the matches, but from what i read henry handballed for the winner, well lets just say henry is right, the ref didnt blow the whistle, it's nice if he stopped play himself, but well i'm not sure whether he sure do so or not, what if ireland won on penalties?

the solution here if of course video replay, which i dont know why fifa refused to do anything to it, most sports already have video replay for refrees to use, so why is it absent in the most popular sport in the world, whatever it is blatter and his gang is corrupt, period, corrupt and incompetence, that's the worst, i recommend the book "Foul!: The Secret World of FIFA: Bribes, Vote Rigging and Ticket Scandals" and you'll see why blatter is nonsense, he cares nothing about the game. jack warner is also mentioned, and is platini a blatter man? i think he's against him, anyway platini isnt that bad, he make some interesting changes to UCL.

finally, chellini is great but he's not the finished product yet, i dont give much concern about fifa's award, player of the year and the golden ball award, i mean cannavaro? he's fantastic at the WC, but that's it. anyway back to giorgo, i did express my concern about his venturing plays, i think it puts our already shaky defence in a bit of danger. and cannavaro's not playing beyond this season, so we do need a new signing, criscito plays left mid for genoa right? what do you guys think of coloccini, it should not be hard to get him and i believe he did well in the la liga, he's a horror though in england, newcastle seems to be scary place for defenders, bousomg, bramble, etc. or we could play caceceres more often to see how he fare there.
  • Sam
Candreva was very impressive for Italy, I WANT HIM!
  • agiamba
alex, my opinion on Cannavaro is the same and will be when he leaves the club. That said, I have been quite surprised by his form, he looks like he's back to his old self and thus, I'm less eager to boot him out the door. He's still a traitor though.
  • agiamba
I've thought about that too Nnahoj, and if anyone can convince him to come back to Juve, it's Ferrara. I dunno why he harbors seemingly so much dislike for the team, sure Ranieri managed him incredibly poorly, but unlike Inter or Roma, the fans never whistled or jeered him.

Ranocchia should be our #1 summer signing for next year. Send Ariaudo on loan, and bring him in. Ranocchia-Chiellini can be the Juve and Azzurri CB partnership for the next 2 World Cups, easy. Kjaer and Bonucci would be good, but I think Ranocchia has more potential.
  • Nnahoj
How about if we just give them money + Molinaro for Ranocchia, and still have the option to bring back Criscito and Palladino? Even if Criscito doesn't want to come back at the moment, I think the opportunity to play on a bigger stage and win trophies will prove too hard to resist.
  • agiamba
I've read those stories too Jose, I don't buy it one bit. It's just international week speculation, and the fact Sivori's son is his agent will naturally get us linked.
  • agiamba
I'd probably swap Criscito for Ranocchia, I'm not sure Criscito wants to come back to Juve.
  • Jose
On another topic, it seems we might be getting Dominguez in January from Rubin Kazan (he scored against Inter). Does anyone know what position he plays?. Also, I was reading that Genoa will give us Ranocchia if we give them Criscito. What do you guys think about that? I say, give them Palladino for Ranocchia and bring back Criscito. Cheers.
  • Jorid
Nnahoj: Anelka sucks huge cock. He was labelled as the next big thing and Juve and Roma were dying to buy him when he came out. Well, his career hasn't really been stellar
  • Nnahoj
    I hate that sulky-faced faggot!
  • Nnahoj
Anelka's dive was just fucking pathetic!
  • Nnahoj
The thing that upsets me most about that game is that this SAME FRANCE TEAM accused Italy of being cheats in the last World Cup final! Gallas was especially vocal! Bunch of fucking hypocritical assholes! The lot of them!
  • agiamba
Platini is a genius even if he is anti-video replay. Blatter, is a corrupt idiot.
  • alex
sepp blatter is a fucking idiot and i doubt platini will say anything against france... why do fifa and uefa always have complete turds running them?? platini says the right things but unless he speaks out over the france win hes just another douchebag running football into the ground
  • agiamba
I think an appropriate punishement would be for Henry to sit out the World Cup.
  • agiamba
My thoughts on France-Ireland summed up:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...

What a cheating shitbag. I hope Henry loses all of his endorsements.
  • Pablo
Regarding France-Ireland: I also think it's a disgrace. Not because of it's fairness (or lack of), but because it was the perfect opportunity to make the world of football a better place... by sacking Domenech and hiring a proper coach for a team who deserves better.
  • Jorid
Pablo: I would have screamed bloody murder none the less. Referees make mistakes but seriously, Thierry looked like he was playing v-ball.
  • Pablo
Well, referees make mistakes (we all know that). It would be interesting to know what would have happened if the beneficiary of an action like that was Ireland (leaving France out of the WC).
  • Jorid
Although kind of unrelated(even though Thierry did play for Juve at a point): Dear Mother of God, what was that abomination of a game between France and Ireland? Disgraceful for Henry, disgraceful for Le Roi and disgraceful for Blatter. Trap got jipped from a rightful WC appearance.
  • alex
he definitely deserves a nomination. if john terry does then chiellini certainly does
  • Pablo
I'm not sure if Chiellini deserves a nomination for Balon d'Or. He was pretty inconsistent last season. I'm his fan, don't get me wrong, but it is still not his time. It took a World Cup wining (with a fantastic performance) to award the Balon d'Or to a defender. I just think it is still not Chiellini's time (yet).
  • Vince
i wish Camo would have gotten to come back with Buffon and Cannavaro... his small appearance today was really not needed and he can always use the extra rest..
  • Nnahoj
Congratulations SLOVENIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. I was rooting for you guys.

    Now fuck off! :)
  • SLOVENIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
    SLOVENIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!
  • alex
although juve should be 9 with cannavaro?? have you changed your opinion with him alessio?
