An addition to the Juventus Offside…

By: alessio | March 30th, 2008

Hi all,

I’m Alessio and I’ve joined with Roberto to write for the Juventus Offside’s page. My real name is Aaron, Alessio is a tribute to my favorite player of all time (take a wild guess) so you all have probably seen me post around for quite a while, I’m kind of all over the Italy Offsides…I’ve got a lot of free time.

Just a bit about me- I’m Italian-American, thanks to my dad, who lived across Italy (Padova, Bari, Venezia, etc) before settling in Chicago and then upstate NY (Syracuse/Rochester) in his mid 20s. My family is historically from Foggia, in the southeast part of Italy, not far from Bari, the capital of the Apulia region.
I’m early 20s, from upstate New York, originally, and actively support my hometown soccer team. (USL-1 Rochester Rhinos) Now I live/go to university in New Orleans, which is a lovely city. I’m probably going to be living in Spain January-July next year. I’ve been a Juventino since birth, for those who don’t know, Juventus is extremely popular in southern Italy.
I created the largest Facebook group for Juventus, which has grown and grown to ~8k members. and I’m very excited to be writing for this great community.

edited: I speak Italian at an intermediate level, from learning from my dad and from taking it in school. I can gladly translate interviews and stuff if you give me a bit of time.

Alessio, where are you from specifically in Upstate New York? I am from Binghamton and use to play the Rhino’s u-18 team (played for the Syracuse team). Good luck with your blog as well.

Rochester. Actually a good friend of mine goes to SUNY Binghamton. Very cool though…I’ve played soccer for a while but I had cancer in early high school and didn’t rejoin the team, so my soccer career kinda ended. That’s very cool you played for Syracuse, my friend played for the Junior Rhinos…I wonder if you played him.

I probably did. I live on the hill right above SUNY Binghamton and many of my friends from home go there. Small world, I am glad upstate New York is well represented on this site, Ryan at the Sevilla blog is from Rochester to and a few commentors on my blog, Real Madrid, are from Rochester/Syracuse.

Darren is an awesome guy. hes really cool and when he coached up here his teams always did well. i never had the luxery of having him as a coach but my brother did and he loved it. He always wanted to go to practices and games when he was his coach so I am going to assume hes a good coach. I’m sure he will do fine. He also used to play for the Van. Whitecaps. There is actually a picture of him playing hanging in then CSA HQ in Toronto haha. its pretty cool. I think his contract is 2 year right??
