125… 126!
By: roberto | June 21st, 2009Love him or hate him, Cannavaro is about to equal Maldini’s record of Italy caps. Tonight though they’re in tough with Brazil since they need to beat them by two goals to qualify for the semi-finals. Fucking Azzurri, why do they always have to make it so hard for themselves?

126 Paolo Maldini
125 126 Fabio Cannavaro
112 Dino Zoff
94 Gianluigi Buffon
94 Giacinto Facchetti
91 Alessandro Del Piero
86 Gianluca Zambrotta
81 Franco Baresi
81 Giuseppe Bergomi
81 Marco Tardelli
FORZA AZZURRI!!!
IERI… OGGI… DOMANI… SEMPRE JUVE!!!

How can you not call the kid? Uh let’s see, he’s 18 and just got sent off in the u-21 euros. Two good reasons.
If this tournament gets Gattuso, Toni, Zambrotta, and Cannavaro off the Nazionale, mission accomplished.

Alessio, if getting a red card means you can play for the national team, then Camoranesi, De Rossi, Totti would have never played in the national team.

balotelli is an absolute disgrace. he has the worst attitude in football. he claims to be racially abused all the time but if he was intelligent he would use his talent and gain italys respect instead of acting like a complete twat all the time. that way he would help pave the way for other black italians but no hes just a horrible douchebag

Strawman argument, Mike.

ask Casiraghi if he’d rather be without Balotelli. The fact is that the kid scored 5 goals in 9 caps. you seem to argue that the U21 would be better of without him. i’m not sure about that

USA Egypt 2-0, we need to score 1

would that be enough?

Balotelli is just immature…like you said…he’s 18…he has a lot of growing up to do…the talent is there though…hopefully he can, at some point, straighten it all out…a player of his talent would be a welcome addition to the italian national team…

personally i think the under 21 team would be great if balotelli was somewhat mature, the fact is he isnt, and hes becoming a real liability to the team. sure, he scores goals, and he did score against sweden, but as you saw, the defenders target his weak personality, and it was his retaliation that got him sent off, weakening the team. It was a shame because giovinco was having a great game, but the red card prevented him from playing to his strengths. So a balotelli with that attitude, does not help the team

i agree dan…that’s why hopefully he can grow up…cause he can be a real big help to the team if he can…

Dan, good argument, then if you’re correct we don’t need to worry, since Casiraghi nor Mourinho will not play him again.

USA up 3-0, USA qualifies if these are the final scores

obviously balotelli will be played, and like you Mike, i believe he has great potential, but i just hate seeing the nation place their hopes in a player and his ability to mature. Its stupid, anybody with the chance to become one of the greatest players should not be blowing it, by just being a complete ass. i cant stand to watch his arrogance (im sure i dont have to remind you of the last juve-inter match). Maturity plays a big part in football, and i would hate to see such talent being wasted for stupid reasons.
Sorry for the lecture, but the brasil italy match has caused some frustrations, club football seems so far away

una squadra senza gioco…describes them perfectly…

indeed, Jim. Enough of this 4-3-3 bullshit.
Mike, being mature for the Nazionale and the u-23 team are very, very different cases.

time for marchisio..motta…cassano…giovinco…the future..

Pepe brings some welcomed pace but he needs serious help with his crosses. De Rossi can’t seem to stay on his feet and Toni is an absolute pain to watch out there.
Lippi it’s time to bring Amauri and Cassano.

enough of 4-3-3, and as much as i hate to say this, what has happened to Chiellini? he has taken a step back this year

He has, HolyMann. I don’t know.
Hopefully the management watched Grosso and Dossena’s performances and if they decide to pick between the two of them..should be obvious.

so is the hope of criscito officially dead?

ps, what are the chances of lippi getting sacked/shot before wc2010?

well this is the last straw:
http://www.fifa.com/confederationscup/news/newsid=1075172.html#lippi+unrepentant+despite+early+exit“Italian coach Marcello Lippi said he did not intend to change any of his planning for the 2010 FIFA World CupSouth Africa™, despite seeing his team eliminated from the FIFA Confederations Cup at the group stage on Sunday.”
“‘What youngsters?,’ he queried when asked at his post-match media conference why he did not pick some younger players.”
“The best team I could choose was the one standing on the pitch tonight.”

its as if he’s blaming the players and not himself….the formation and some players HAVE to change, is it just me, or does a 4-3-1-2 formation sound nice for Italy considering they have talents like Rossi/Cassano
