Previews: Half-assed Preview of Juventus-Artmedia and Squad Updates
By: alessio |We’re back, ladies and gentlemen. After two years of exile, Juventus FC officially re-enters the Champion’s League in the 3rd-round qualifiers. Win this two-legged tie and we’re into the lucrative group stages. Our opponent this year is FC Artmedia Petržalka, who won the Slovak league last year. In terms of Uefa co-efficients, they are below [...]
Liveblog: Manchester United v. Juventus Pre-season Friendly
By: alessio |So, I was going to be at the beach all day today, but a storm decided to roll in this morning. End result? I’m sitting inside the beachhouse watching the rain come down, pretty cool stuff. But the upside is I’ll be watching this glorious friendly as well, and I figured, if I’m watching, why [...]
Juventus Legends: Angelo Peruzzi
By: alessio |La Vecchia Signora has always been blessed with good keepers, in the last 25 years or so, you can count the number of starting keepers on one hand. Tacconi, Peruzzi, Van Der Sar, and Buffon. They seem to stretch out by decade, as Tacconi was our starting keeper for most of the 80s, before being [...]

Capello Sucks: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Calciopoli
By: alessio |This is kind of another reflection on Juventus history, but of a slightly different kind.
Like all Juventini, two years ago I went from Nirvana to Hell in a matter of a month. In the greatest football moment I’ve ever witnessed, the Azzurri triumphed in Berlin, winning the first major silverware I’ve been around for. [...]
Juventus Legends: Alessio Tacchinardi
By: alessio |About two weeks ago I did a profile on former Juventus captain Antonio Conte and with Juve’s mercato pretty much wrapped up, I figured to do another. This is on a personal favorite of mine, in fact, my namesake on the Offside. Many of you know my real name is Aaron. Where does Alessio come [...]
Juventus Legends: Antonio Conte
By: alessio |We have such legends playing for us now that sometimes we forget some of the older ones. The irony is not lost on me that when I was growing up and started following La Vecchia Signora in the late 90s we had the best midfield in the world, and now are struggling to fill it. There was Zinedine Zidane, Edgar Davids, my personal favorite Tacchinardi, Di Livio, Deschamps, and of course Antonio Conte. These were the legendary midfielders who led us to 3 consecutive Champion’s League finals in one of our glory eras. It seems that Del Piero has been “il Capitano” for us forever, but he was not our captain during this glory era, taking over in 2001 after recovering from his knee injury. That honor went to Antonio Conte.
Player Ratings: Juventus Season 2007-2008
By: alessio |I’ll probably do a wrap-up for the season, but this is a concise quicker way to review it I suppose. Without any further ado, I give you my player ratings (out of 10) for every Bianconeri who played a role in our season.
Brief thought of the day: Comparing Serie A to the EPL
By: alessio |There was a Goal.com article recently comparing Roma to Arsenal. While obviously no two teams will match up….here are the comparisons between the Big Fours of England and Italy.
Inter-Chelsea
Both teams have generally been the “other big 4 team” and did not have much domestic success until recently. Big spending by their new owners has resulted [...]
Palermo v. Juventus: Colantuono’s Last Chance, Really This Time… I Swear
By: roberto |Tifosi Rosaneri don’t tell me, let me guess. Colantuono’s got some secret plan to beat us come Sunday. I mean, that’s the reason why Zamparini hired him again, right? Well it’s either that, or he persuaded your president for another chance after he touched his nose with his tongue and made some funny animals out [...]
