thanks alessio...that's what i thought, but some sites are reporting it by not including "midseason"...they are just writing he's the first coach to be fired by juventus in 40 years...

for example.... Ranieri, a former boss at Chelsea and Valencia, is the first Juve coach in 40 years to be fired from his post.
  • HolyMann
True, but this is how we know even he is human :), and unlike Secco, his mistakes did not really cost Juve as much as Secco's mistakes
  • Tom
HolyMann, thanks. Indeed, Secco would never be in par to be compared with Moggi. My Bad :)

Bottom line is, even the HolyMoggi did mistakes.
  • HolyMann
Tom, its true Moggi did mistakes, but if you read properly, none of those flops stayed for more than a season, they were then sold, unlike what Secco is doing with the current flops, how on earth can you put Secco and Moggi on the same page?

and im with Alessio, simply terrible to sack Ranieri now, he deserves much better, have we forgotten that Juve had the best results in the games of Milan, Inter and Roma last year, and this year we only lost to Inter through a lucky goal they scored....i am with him being sacked by the end of the year (maybe), but to have his name as the first manager in 40 years to be sacked before the year ends.....he deserves much more respect than that because the players are to blame just as much as him
  • Sam
    Its absolutly fuckin official

    http://www.goal.com/en/news/10...

he could succeed.. and lol he got jeered when he was unvailed!
  • Tom
ever think that Secco is idiot because he bought so many flops? think again. even moggi made a mistake. A top-ten flop buying by Moggi in C4.

    Should I add Thiery Henry?
  • agiamba
His career at Milan and Barcelona was all about attractive free-flowing football. Juventus is about results and ugly wins.

Plus, I'm not terribly impressed with his work at Barcelona. Yeah, he did well, and I'll give him full props for winning the CL, but either him and Guardiola are geniuses or Barcelona just has an obscenely stacked team.
  • adam
Alessio, our management is made up of liars that break promise after promise. But sacking Ranieri was the right thing to do, the only problem that I see with it is that it was a few months too late.

Ofcourse other managers are gonna think it was wrong to sack a coach what manager wants to be sacked?

I don't know much about Rijkaard other than he led Barca to a Champions League and 2 straight La Ligas. His last season there was pretty bad though. I'm currious about your opinion on why we shouldn't get him though.
  • agiamba
    This is why, incredible.
    http://juventus.theoffside.com...

I never want Rijkaard at Juve. He's overrated and he would never fit into the Juve philosophy.

I think it was classless, and I'm glad other Italian managers and directors think so too. Our management has no brains.

Sam, given that he's only coached at the youth level and as Lippi's assistant, I don't think anyone will know that, and he probably varied his formation based on his talent.
  • incredible cock
i don't undrstand why everybnody is jumping for conte ??? the man hasn't proved absolutely nothing yet!
ferrara maybe to,but he's directly from the school ofthe absolutely grandmaster LIPPI i much more prefer that.
if ferrara doenst continue i would like rijkaard to coach juve.
but besides a new coach they need besides diego at least 3 more signings
  • Sam
Does anyone know what kind of football Ciro Ferrera Likes to play and formation? I hope he dosnet play like a Giovani Trapatonni or some sort of Catenaccio football!
  • Dave
    What took so long?
  • FF
agree with you sam - Ferrara should play youth esp. Giovinco in last 2 matches..second still in sight! Forza Juve
  • FF
    Oh Joy!
  • i dont think its necessarily classless to sack Ranieri at this point. Perhaps the sacking will turn your form around, it happens pretty often.
  • Jorid
Andy, you're the classic, classless hater. Juventus is the most decorated team in Italy and even after being stripped off a cpl scuddetti thanks to Calciopoli, La Vecchia Signora still has close to 3 fucking stars you imbecile. Now feel free to suck on ADP's dick while you read the above mentioned information.
  • Brian
I feel bad for Claudio, as if he was going to be fired, it should have been done a few weeks ago. Anyone could have seen by the Inter match that Ranieri had lost this team. The board and the players are not without blame for this mess also, but I hope that Ciro can kick some butt and get two wins in these last two matches.

Blanc is full of shit. A good CEO, but he needs to stick to the finances and quit his job as the GM.
  • Nnahoj
    From guardian.co.uk:

Ranieri's sacking was the "last resort", according to general manager Jean Claude Blanc. "We have taken this decision as a last resort when the team is not playing well," explained Blanc at a press conference in Turin. "We are convinced that this will deliver a clear message to the players: these final two games are fundamental and need to be played to the very best of their ability. Everybody has got to take responsibility."

"After the recent results, we find ourselves just one point ahead of Fiorentina and that is why we have decided, evaluating the whole season, to relieve Claudio Ranieri of his duties," added Blanc. "It was a decision shared overwhelmingly by the whole club.

Im suree as hell this guy will start Giovinco, i have a feeling he likes youth, AND WHEN I HEARD THE NEWS " OFFICIAL: Juventus Sack Claudio Ranieri, Ciro Ferrara Takes Over" just like adam Words cannot describe how happy I was when I woke up!
  • adam
Giro the question is how are guys like Salihamidzic and Marchionni starting over Giovinco.

Words cannot describe how happy I was when I woke up and saw "OFFICIAL: RANIERI SACKED" on channel4.com.
  • Giro
Ranieri is definitely the reason why you guys never really challenged Inter for the Scudetto. How is ADP starting over the likes of Giovinco.
  • Armando
By the way, by enough time i meant for Ferrara to make a difference, with just 2 games remaining.
  • Armando
I just want to say that i just watched the Zanetti goal on the highlights, and i have to say it's a contender for goal of the year in my opinion. What an amazing goal. Similar to Essien's against Barca, but even better.

And it looks like Amauri is getting his form back. Certainly doing better than post-Xmas, though still not on the form he was pre-Xmas.

Back on the Ranieri topic, yea, it might not be enough time, but remember what happenned with Scolari-Hiddink. Chelsea IMMEDIATELY rebooted as soon as Hiddink took control. Would be great for that to happen here with Ferrara.
  • adam
Alessio, when we were winning against Real Madrid it wasen't cause we were that much better. It was because of Del Piero.

Under the two years of Ranieri the first year was supposedly the year where the team needed time to "gel". Well this year the players should have formed some sort of understanding which they clearly didn't.

When was the last time anyone saw Juventus play with any sort of character or identity? When was the last time you saw our players complete more than 5 passes to each other? Never not even on our best days did we achieve these things and our last 7 games were disgraceful.
  • agiamba
Just three years ago Juve were facing up to the fact they’d be playing in Serie B after being found guilty of match-fixing. Now, they sit third in Serie A with two games to go but that is not good enough for the Old Lady of Turin. The risk they might miss out on an automatic Champions League spot was too great.

Claudio Ranieri has been sacked despite doing wonders last term when they comfortably finished third. His team beat Real Madrid home and away this season in the Champions League and they reached the Italian Cup semi-finals.

Juve have been riddled with injuries, Alessandro Del Piero suddenly stopped scoring at the turn of the year yet the run of seven league games without a win is deemed as Ranieri’s fault.

Like when he was dumped by Chelsea, Ranieri has carried himself with great dignity through recent weeks when the media and most of his own fans were calling for his head. But at Italy’s biggest supported club and the most successful domestically, there is no place to hide.

Haha, well, being a Juve fan, we don't have a lot of experience in it. 1 sacking in the last 20 years, I believe, and that was Ancelotti.

As long as we win Juventus-Lazio, I'll be happy.
  • KJ
"And everyone is right, Ferrara will not be able to show his ability in that brief time."

Being a Palermo fan, I have plenty of experience when it comes to axed managers. I think its done way too much in Serie A especially by Palermo. But sometimes it is necessary and Ranieri deserved it.. The players gave up on playing weeks ago and havent won since weeks ago. There is no reason to believe they will win either of their last two games as well under Ranieri. There is still alot at stake for Juve...They cant let Fiorentina pass them..Its been bad but it would be detrimental to collapse like that...They had no choice but to sack him...I bet Juve wins at least one more time before season end.

"If we really wanted to guarentee that 3rd spot, they shouldn’t have waited until we were 1 point ahead. A bunch of idiots at the helm."

I don't disagree, especially with the last part. Better late than never, as they say.
  • agiamba
The current crisis is down to two things; shitty defense, and a lack of motivation among players. Ciro might get that post-coach-changing bounce, but so it goes.

It's classless to sack a coach 2 match-days before the end of the season who has done nothing but done his best in a difficult situation in a gentlemanly manner. Whether we finish 3rd or 4th is largely irrelevent. That said, I think given the (above) reasons for the crisis, it's a crapshoot either way if we're going to finish 3rd. If we finish 4th, it just shows the management's decision was hasty and stupid.

If we really wanted to guarentee that 3rd spot, they shouldn't have waited until we were 1 point ahead. A bunch of idiots at the helm.
  • Armando
I agree with Alessio about the sacking not being classy at all, and something that Inter wouldve done, not us. But on the other side we really needed a change, even if it was for the last two games. I'm kinda split about this, but i think i'm more happy that Ferrara has taken over. This could be the start of the old Juve coming back, you know, the Juve that other teams used to shit their pants over.
  • Nnahoj
"I don’t like the sacking one bit. It reeks of Inter-ish classlesness and desperation from the management."

I don't see how that is classless. They gave Ranieri ample time with the team. The final goal (which came after missing out on all other goals) which was qualifying automatically for the UCL was at a great risk due to our poor run of form. Something had to be done.

Maybe bringing in a recent ex-Juventino will cause the needed stir and bring back that fighting spirit we seemed to have lost. Just maybe.
  • Armando
Alright, i do have to say one thing. I'm happy that Ranieri has been sacked and we've gotten a (most likely) better coach, but still, i feel bad for Ranieri. He was pretty bad, but he was a gentleman, a respectable guy for sure, and on one side i dont think he deserved to be the first coach fired midseason in 40 years by Juve (even though it's not really midseason, it's basically the end of the season). On the other side though, like i said, i'm happy that Ciro has taken over, and Ranieri is gone, because Ranieri surely was bad.
  • agiamba
Because Chelsea and Valencia weren't elite clubs when he was at them, and Juve was in the return from Serie B, skyder.

I don't like the sacking one bit. It reeks of Inter-ish classlesness and desperation from the management. And everyone is right, Ferrara will not be able to show his ability in that brief time.
  • skyder
"However him not being ranieri is already an improvement." LOL, I agree, adam.

But why does Ranieri keep getting top jobs - look at his record, what has he done for Juve, or Chelsea, or Valencia? For a good laugh, go to wikipedia's page on Ranieri: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C...
  • Jem
LaStampa.it has a poll up, the results are kind of split...

Ferrara's appointment is temporary, for now. I guess depending on how the squad reacts to him and the results, his name would enter the hat for the list of possible permanent replacements.

And for MAD, we beat Genoa 4-1 at the Olimpico; they beat us 3-2 at Ferraris. We have the head to head, we have (at least) 4th.
  • adam
Johonna, you cannot make any sort of assessment based on two games. However him not being ranieri is already an improvement.
  • adam
MAD, we won 4-1 at home and lost 3-2 at Genoa.

    So we should be good.
