Scolari Sacked! Grant to be back!
By: alessio | February 9th, 2009Alright, so it doesn’t exactly rhyme. But I was never the A student in poetry, so it goes. The breaking news of course is that Big Phil, aka Gene Hackman, has been sacked by Chelsea just two weeks before our two-legged tie. Why? You’ll have to ask the Chelski Offside, my interest in the Premier League is passing at best. I know they’ve been underwhelming and Torres nailed them twice in the last 5 minutes a few weeks ago, that’s about it.
Avram Grant has been surprisingly ticked to return, which is interesting. I don’t think the guy got enough credit for what he did last season, he did what the Special One never could with Chelsea. Then again, supposedly he was in tears and furious when he was unceremoniously dumped, but I guess he can always swallow his pride.
Luiz Felipe Scolari has been dismissed as manager of Chelsea Football Club today (Monday) with immediate effect.
The Chelsea board would like to place on record our gratitude for his time as manager.
Felipe has brought many positives to the club since he joined and we all feel a sense of sadness that our relationship has ended so soon.
Unfortunately the results and performances of the team appeared to be deteriorating at a key time in the season.
In order to maintain a challenge for the trophies we are still competing for we felt the only option was to make the change now.
The search for a new manager has already started and we hope to have someone in place as soon as possible.
While that continues Assistant Coach Ray Wilkins will take charge of the team on a temporary basis.
It’ll be interesting to see what happens to Deco and Quaresma….boy did Ricky choose the wrong moment to quit Inter. I only see this as a good thing for Juve….they get their post-manager bounce this weekend, and by the time they come to town they’ll hopefully be over the honeymoon stage.

“…he did what the Special One never could with Chelsea.”
What’s that? Win nothing?

Get to the Champions League final.

Which earns you nothing, right?
Compare the Chelsea trophy cabinets with and without Mourinho. They would be bigger idiots than even I think they are not to beg for him to come back.

Roman Abramovich …. and beg… what?? are you mad??

He beat Liverpool to make it to the CL final, and if John Terry hadn’t fallen on his ass, they’d be polishing it right now. With all the money in the world, Jose couldn’t replicate his feat with tiny Porto.

But the question to all Juventini is what’s your read on this? Do you think this will help us or will the new guy maybe get Chelsea on track?

It will definitely help them..provided they get a good coach soon, which is not that hard given the amount of money they have. If they can get Hiddink or maybe Rijkaard I think it would be much harder for Juve to beat them..rest I am not so sure..

I’m not sure if they’re going to get Hiddink or Rikjaard though. Hiddink seems much better at national than club management, and I’m not sure Rikjaard will go. They are turning into a bit of a laughing stock with cycling through coaches, though. Grant took Chelsea from a (Mourinho-induced) miserable start to very nearly winning 3 titles. I think they would have done well to have kept him, I was very surprised when he was sacked.
I’d love to see them pick up Zola or Mancini….I don’t have much respect for eithers managerial capabilities.

He beat Liverpool to earn nothing in the final.
John Terry taking a pk is a horrible piece of management in the first place, with all the talent on that team.
The cabinet is empty. There are more trophies than the CL.

There are more trophies than the CL.
Not to Roman…or apparently Moratti.

Terry took the PK cause Drogba, who was supposed to be the original, was sent off and Anelka sulked at not being given enough chance to warm up before PKs since he just came on.. he refused so Terry said that he’ll take and rest’s history!

You should know your enemy better. Moratti wants a return of the Inter of his youth, La Grande Inter.
That means 2 trophies. Tricolor shields and big ears.
He got the one from Mancini, now he wants the other, but not at the expense of the first. He needs to pass Milan, first.
You should have heard his anger and criticism after the Atalanta game.
Ask yourself, if all he wants is Europe, then why should he care about a league game?

Wanting the big ‘ol ears doesn’t mean he wants to see his team humiliated by a mid-table side.

Hiddink today confirmed that he will be doing the job for the moment as well as leading Russia.
“One of these days I will go to London. I expect to be there on the field next week,” Hiddink told Radio 538.
“It’s never enough time to prepare a team in one week but this is an exceptional situation.
“Chelsea have good players and they should be in top form and that should make my job easier.
“There are two scenarios: it goes bad and they say ‘go back east’ or it goes well, but I’m not thinking that far ahead.”
