Sissoko & Stendardo Now, Mellberg In July, Tiago Still Retarded

By: roberto | January 28th, 2008

All for one, and one for alllllllllll!!!!!Reports out of Italy are confirming the signing the Momo Sissoko and Olef Mellberg this morning. Momo has apparently signed a contract for four and half seasons that will see him at Juventus until June of 2012. Liverpool will be given 11 million euros up front, while another 2 million euros in cash will be forked over by the Old Lady after the Mali international completes an unknown number of appearances. The 23 year-old will reportedly recieve 2.5 million a season. On our defensive front, Juventus have acquired two one helping hand as Lazio’s Stendardo will join Juventus effective immediately until he makes way for Aston Villa’s Olof Mellberg come July.

“I am very happy with this agreement,” a statement from Mellberg reads.

“This experience in Italy will be an important one at a prestigious club and in one of the biggest Leagues in the world.

“Now I must end the season in the best possible way with Aston Villa, but I really can’t wait to join Juventus and give my best in the black and white shirt.”

  • Not quite as soon as I had hoped for but nonetheless, Mellberg does represent a vital piece of the puzzle that Juventus desperately needed to fill if they plan on any Champions League success next season. Olof (whos parents apparently couldn’t have picked a more Swedish name even if they’d tried), is a solid centre back with shit loads of club and country experience that can only improve our defensive efforts. No word yet on how much we’ll be paying him per season but Secco can relax for now as this transfer cost us nothing.

“I’m happy to have this opportunity and I think this will also make my relatives happy,” Stendardo grinned after completing his move.“To play for a club like this - one of the most glorious in the world - is a cause for pride. Over the next five months I will do my best to give the team a hand.”

  • Stendardo, coming in on loan from Lazio until of this season, is said to have a 6.5 million euro price tag on him that Juve will have to consider once his short spell in black and white is up (a price tag that will no doubt increase if he finds success with us this term). The 26 year-old will be tested early as he’s already been selected to play against Inter this week in our important second leg match. However, due to suspensions he’ll miss his first two Serie A fixtures against Cagliari and Udinese. Really I wish I could tell you more about his style of play but the truth is I can’t. I’ve had head stuck so far down a Juventus ostridge-like hole that I can’t even remember what I had for breakfast let alone the abilities of a Lazio first/second stringer. Either way, look at him this way. He’s a defensive replacement for a spot gone empty after Boumsong’s departure. All the best luck to him though. Honestly.
  • In other news, Tottenham has signed someone else (smart bastards) so Tiago is now set to ride the pine.
  • In case your wondering where the Livorno recap is my dog ate it. So for now here’s Marco’s over at mCalcio. What a fucking goal by Trezeguet though. Alright, enjoy the rest of the day.
  • How could I have almost forgotten, BUON COMPLEANNO GIGI!!!!!

Stendardo is real solid. Haven’t seen too much of him this season, but when he plays he makes a difference for sure. I wish we coulda got him down in Palermo but you guys seem to have nipped us again. Best of luck on the new signings. (Still think signing Sissoko is an enormous mistake though)

Ricci I couldn’t agree more. I don’t think we need him (Zanetti/Nocerino), and I don’t think he has the talent. We really need someone who can push up the middle cause right now Del Piero is the only one bridging attack and midfield. (VdV/Diego) I was hoping, as previously reported, we were bringing him on loan with an option to buy in the summer, that way we could see if he’s any good or if he’s another Almiron/Tiago.

11m for Sissoko is ridiculous.Sissoko’s still young & hasn’t shown anything to deserve that kind of transfer price. Loses possession all too often.

I don’t think Hamburg is gonna let VDV go because they are very close to the top and in the middle of a title race. If they lose him they can kiss the title, and a CL place goodbye. With the Stendardo signing, Juve should lose some of that shakiness at the back and I believe they will seal up a CL spot.

I also agree that you guys need someone who can push the ball aggressively through the middle and put some killer balls through to Iaquinta,ADP and Trezegol. It doesn’t look like it’ll happen this season but I think you guys should be fine. However, Palladino is a very creative player and I think he needs to be used more.

sissoko can’t possibly lose posession as much as nocerino. did you guys see how T-Rez bitched nocerino after the first goal? haha, it was great, trez scores and does his celebratory run towards his server, in this case zanetti, and nocerino jumps in front of him looking for some juve love and Trezegol just pushes nocerino’s arms away and blows by him….ahhaha, fuck nocerino with his bitch ass.

i’ll trust the mad scientist (ranieri) on sissoko.

R.J.- Hahaha I didn’t think anyone else saw that! Trezeguet blew right fucking by Nocerino. T-Rez couldn’t have made his feelings any clearer as his face paused in celebration to give Nocerino a “what the fuck are you doing here?”. Speaking of Nocerino, in addition to being semi-prone to turnovers, he cannot and I repeat CANNOT cross a ball into our area with any consistency yet and this is proving to be a pain my ass. If only we can just fucking clone Zanetti.

Ricci- I’m kind of getting the sense from what I’ve been reading about Stendardo that he is definitely gonna give us a boost in defense. Being 190cm doesn’t hurt either. If he’s ready to go at centre-back this Wednesday I’d expect Ranieri to give him the start in the middle with Lego. Then Grygera can move to his natural position on the right and Molinaro can have at the left again. Also, Birindelli needs to sit the next couple rounds out since he’ll be needed for this weekend’s match against Cagliari… we are fucked for that game come to think it. Nocerino and Zanetti are both suspended I think.

You know what ppl, put the 11 million and change aside for a second because Sissoko could hypothetically flourish in Ranieri’s system. I say we give the kid another chance here at Juventus with Ranieri. Alessio, I agree with you 100%. ADP is the only one bridging that gap, and being a defensive midfielder, I won’t expect Sissoko to help in that department. However, come summer, with sissoko or not, we’re still going to need to get someone special right? i.e.(VDV/DIEGO/DECO/BALLACK ETC). So really, since this summer seems to be the only time when we can make those blockbusters, I can almost semi-rationalise this decision.

FUCK IT, Sissoko WILL impress. I’m officially jumping on the bandwagon! That is of course only after the Tiago bandwagon I was on slid on an icy patch, careened into oncoming traffic, collided head-on with a bus, and flipped 12 times before it finally landed in a ditch where it subsequently burned to the ground into a firey heap of shit.

On second thought, Stendardo is looking a little shaky with his follow-through:

Alessio, maybe we were wrong. In Stendardo’s presentation Secco spoke the words “He’s here on loan and we have hire-purchase rights…” Hire-purchase rights? What the fuck are hire-purchase rights?

Sissoko had potential at a time, but at the moment I’d have passed on him, especially since Mascherano seems to be available. Why didn’t we just sign Stendardo outright? Methinks he’d be immense. Personally I’d give Tiago till the end of the season. Someone should be able to knock it into his silly head that this is his absolute last chance to cut it in a big league with a big club.

what a f are you al talking about sissoko diego tiago the truth of the matter is that none of the players with the noted ecxeptions of Buffon Chiellini Tresegol Del Piero and even old Nevdedv F Camoranesi is not worthy this players are the back bone of a team that needs not new players but talents , on the other hand the real looers of Juve are cobboli conigli sseco di testa Blanc bianco sensa idee that is the real weight of the Juve middfield ,because no one would sell Ibra Zambrotta Cannavaro Thuram Vieira to buy those loosers like Tiago Almiron Sissoko and ecct ecct what we need is only ONE and he will raise Juve from the dead and yeas you all know it LUCIANONE MOGGI. forza the real juve Vecchia GUardia
